Sean Taylor?

Post by Redskins4Life »

Where the hell was Sean Taylor today? Why werent they playing him? I was excited to see him do some of what he showed in the preseason but I only saw him play a couple snaps, most on special teams.... They said he had a virus in practice, but he was fine yesterday so why didnt he play!?!???

he obviously wasn't 100% I saw him on a few plays. One was Galloway running right past him and he didn't close the gap and the other was causing a fumble that they said was down. No review under 2 minutes by the refs. Refs were just plain horrible this game. Mostly against the skins I might add.

Sean will be back next week. Lott and Bowens had pretty fine games. It only gets better from here.

Gibbs at his press conference said they had a lot of packages for Taylor in todays game plan but it all depended on how often the package was used. He said Sean was feeling fine they just used other defensive packages today

I don't think Gregg feels comfortable with him just yeah.

He has talent out of the wazoo but the NFL is also a mental game and Taylor has a lot that he doesn't know. He worked his way into the game, I think we'll be starting before the season is over.

Give the man a break, he's not a CB. He's a safety. He won't be able to cover a Holt or a super fast WR. The man is fast, and maybe lost a step because of the virus but we can't expect him to cover a #1 WR.

Joey Galloway out ran him today but it took so much effort he had to leave the game. If that continues to happen I wont mind Taylor being outrun every now and then

I'm not bagging on him. I'm just saying I think he's still a bit sick. I thought that cause he looked slower than in preseason. I think he can cover a #1 WR as well. =P

The guy is built like a linebacker. Please don't expect him to have closing speed on a Galloway, Holt, Moss etc. He is supposed to be a backstop.

Hence the name safety.

It took so much effort for Galloway to outrun him that he pulled his Jimmy muscle.

His wife is "groina" be upset. ROTFALMAO

there was some talk on the postgame shows that Taylor amy have missed/been late to a team meeting this week, as well as being sick earlier in the week. Probably at least part of the reason he wasn't in there more was to send a message to him.

I heard the same think on Frank Herzog's show. Under other coaches we would have heard of this the day it happen but Gibbs likes to keep everything in-house.
I saw Portis on the sideline with Taylor and it looked like he was trying to keep him focus and to get him in a better move so this may have been a message being sent

built like a linebacker, but covers like CB ;-)

if you noticed, he was the only one on galloway. He was covering him one on one. Granted it was thru a zone switchoff, but still...Possibly because Gregg knows he's one of the best cover guys on the team?

food for thought...

Also, he actually could have made the play but took a bad angle. He may have taken that angle onpurpose, not realizing Galloway's speed or over-estimating his.
You'll always be remembered Sean. R.I.P.

Exactly, thats what I was trying to say, you did a better job though.

Yea, G. Williams spoke on this during the preseason. He wanted Taylor to get burned so that he'll have some respect for the receivers. Taylor could probally run with 98% of all college WR's but thats going to change in the NFL. It'll still be a high percentage but it'll be considerably lower. Regardless, Sean was very close to Joey.
