First of all, welcome to the Hogs.net, Gibbs4Life. Secondly, I think their will be a few things that will transpire in the coming days that might be shocking a lot of us. Judging you by your screen name, I would like to think you trust in Gibbs as much as the rest of us. He is a great evaluator for talent and sees things that we don't. If its Ade over Bauman....so be it. I'm not sweating bullets even though I too liked Bauman more.
I have travelled the net and found the Redskins promise land. This is, by far, the best site out there for Redskins/NFL News, Notes, Opinions, and so much more.

Ade Jimoh??? Made the team???
I trust Gibbs, BUT THIS SCARES ME! I was hoping that that poor excuse for a DB never had a chance to give up another big play! Tampa right now is finding ways to exploit this.

Hard to believe that Jimoh wasn't cut and Sultan McCullough was. McCullough played his heart out...and Jimoh got beat like a wet dish rag for the entire preseason. I hope Williams & Co. know what the heck they're doing!

I believe you are right - but also keep in mind that most defenses where you see four CBs in the game is going to be a zone defense - which maybe he did better in? ::shrug:: without seeing more of the field than I do on TV I couldn't tell ya...
I do know that he was blitzing a couple of times in the preseason... maybe Williams likes him as a dime blitzer?

Ade sucks at man-to-man coverage, but has good size and speed for zone coverages.
Plus, with Andre Lott stepping it up this year, I suspect G.Williams will have Lott, Taylor and Bowen on the field together (with Smoot, Springs and Harris) on passing downs. And I imagine Wilds and Brown will be placed on the practice squad for insurance.
I just hope the team is able to hold onto Gari Scott and Jafar Williams....but, I suspect the team up in Baltimore might pick one of them up.

actually DE - according to the roster, right now they have Lott tagged as CB, not S... I was surprised when I saw that as well, but then I remembered that he played both positions, supposedly well, at Tennessee.
I think some times we will see 5 DBs, but 3 of them safeties, with one cinching up like a rover role in college - half LB, half S - who could fit that role better?
I know GW likes the blitz... so even if we come out in a dime set - I would look to see who is closing up on the Oline before the snap - he has shown he isn't afraid to throw a CB or S blitz in there ::Grin::
I don't know if I would want to be on the other side of the line from that defense - if the QB isn't getting 3-5 unharrassed seconds to throw the ball, it makes for a very long day for the whole team - AS WE know from last year. Good QB and WR don't mean squat if they can't convert... and their defense will be tired faster which leaves it open for Portis to have good second halves - longer day for the defenses then...
Meanwhile - our defense stays fresh - tell me our guys weren't still looking good after the third series against Vick... pumped, primed and ready to rock and roll...

Here's the plan
Williams, who is known for using multiple cornerbacks in his defensive schemes, doesn't believe in designating a top cornerback. Instead, Williams will generally place Smoot on the left side and Springs on the right side while occasionally basing their matchups against opposing receivers on physical attributes. In third-down passing situations, Springs switches to nickel back and Walt Harris plays right cornerback.
