I wasn't born, I was hatched.

I live in London, Ontario, Canada... but I was hatched in Sheffield, England.

Washington Heights, Manhattan: New York City. About a 7.5 minute drive from Yonkers...at 3am.

Born in The District, grew up in Northeast. Was supposed to learn to read at Bunker Hill School, which still exists, but actually learned to read from the back of Tops baseball cards, Washington Senators only, and from Shirley Povich and Bob Addie, the two sports writers for the Post.

Moved to West Hyattsville when I was about eight, so most of my life was bounded by Rhode Island Avenue, Michigan Avenue, and New Hampshire Avenue.

Went to Chicago to college, but have lived in and near New York since 1969.

Son is diehard Redskins fan, daughter is indifferent to football (devoted Yankees fan), and wife hates all sports except Dutch national soccer-football.

Son lives near a small military base in the great city of Killeen, TX. Anyone else near Killeen? I know San Antonio is a long drive, by East Coast standards...

Hail to the Redskins
Hail victory
Braves on the warpath
Fight for old DC!

(once woke up the entire family singing that, after midnight during MNF game when Redskins scored.)

Susquehanna PA. The last exit on Interstate 81 Northbound before you get into New York State. Its a half an hour in between Binghamton, NY and Scranton,PA.
I have travelled the net and found the Redskins promise land. This is, by far, the best site out there for Redskins/NFL News, Notes, Opinions, and so much more.

Right. Very low humidity. Otherwise...

And where else can you find so many drive-through sewing places?

When I said dry county I was refering to the fact that the strongest drink you can buy in Killeen is a Mountain Dew

Maybe Killeen and the county (Belton?) have different rules now. I was there about three weeks ago, and saw quite a few pool halls that seemed to double as bars. We had dinner one night at an Outback..son pointed out some very good local beers.

Had a fine Mexican dinner one evening on E. Rancier at a family-run "taqueria", were the strongest thing available was Mexican soda with wild flavors...

On the main topic, don't we have more than two New Yorkers? I can name three of us, just from the postings.

I think it's just the areas around Fort Hood. Killeen and Coppers Cove that are Dry. Harker Heights has drive thru Liquor "barns". so it's not all of Bell County. I souldn't have included the whole county. Hood is Federal so it wouldn't apply

Got it...Bell County, and Lake Belton. As I think about it, the pool halls were a good distance down the road toward Lake Belton...beautiful spot.

Harker Heights is the town between Belton and Killeen

skin_to_the-bone, I spent many of my summers in Hallstead, PA, right around the corner from you if I'm not mistaken. . .
