2021 NFL Draft
I don’t know about anyone else, but with that first pick I hope they grab the best tackle on the board. There is no need to trade out of the first round pick for a QB.

Re: 2021 NFL Draft
Definitely should be considered in my opinion.

Re: 2021 NFL Draft
I just hope we don trade the farm to move up for a QB. Especially not one from Alabama or Ohio State.

Did you just say there was no reason to be stupid and then in the next sentence, give the reason that we might act stupid? lolCountertrey wrote:OT or BPA... no reason to get stupid... I hope Coach won't put up with any Snyder BS.

Re: 2021 NFL Draft
I've been dying to ask this draft question of some knowledgeable people. Is there a case to be made at 19 for taking the biggest stud RB? I know that position is kind of undervalued these days, but we've also seen how a young, beast running back can impact an offense. I was wondering if drafting a guy like Etienne or Harris there and have him on the rookie contract for five years is maybe more valuable than a linebacker for wins/losses?
Just curious if you had any thoughts. Something I never hear discussed by the radio guys.
I can't wait to see what the team does this year in the draft. Think we'll find out if media and fan perceptions of the team match up to what the coaches believe.

All of these trade up for a QB rumors got fans nervous, don't they? lol.Countertrey wrote:OT or BPA... no reason to get stupid... I hope Coach won't put up with any Snyder BS.
I wouldn't complain about OT, but does that mean Saahdiq Charles is already out of the picture?

Thanks I appreciate that. That was actually the sole impetus about trying to re-open the boards - there are some really good people here.riggofan wrote:

Yes I got an email that the site was back up.
I will admit you kind of made my day on Friday too. Always enjoyed the discussions on here, and I never found anything comparable after the site went offline.
Did you get a generic e-mail or a personalized email? I honestly got so many bounces that I didn't even know if the generic one had gone out.
Glad to have you back man, you have been a member for a loooong time... since really early days. I truly appreciate your patronage.

I'm going to try and come up with some creative ways to get the word out because pretty much everybody's email on file is no longer working. lol

Re: 2021 NFL Draft
I would no question grab a RB in this draft, im just not sure if it is worth a first round pick. The first round pick at #19 should be OL, WR or LB/Safetyriggofan wrote:I've been dying to ask this draft question of some knowledgeable people. Re: 2021 NFL Draft
I personally think that we are pretty set up at RB. That isn't to say that I wouldn't love another great back, but I think given the other needs that we have, that spending the 19th pick on one is a luxury that we don't really have. Gibson was great last year. Barber and McK to. So we definitely don't NEED a RB.riggofan wrote:I've been dying to ask this draft question of some knowledgeable people. We need a stud tackle. I'll be writing a piece about my thoughts on that before the draft.
We need linebackers. Plural. We literally have none.
We have other needs, but for me the 19th pick will go to one of those positions.
As long as ownership doesn't feel the need to get cute and trade the farm to move up and get a QB like Lance.
But it happens. Especially here.

Re: 2021 NFL Draft
Yeah I get it. We definitely don't NEED an RB, and I was overlooking Gibson too. I was just thinking in terms of really getting a lot of bang for the buck at that pick, RB might be the spot. You won't hear me complain if we draft OT though.
I agree with you about not getting cute. You can see all of these teams moving to get into position for one of these top four or five QBs. There's also two or three teams ahead of us that have big holes at LT. SOMEBODY has to grab Kyle Pitts early. I think this all makes it way more likely that a stud player will be available at 19. It just might not be at one of the positions we all think needs to be filled. Would you take one of the Alabama WRs if he falls that far, for example?
Man, I love the draft...

Re: 2021 NFL Draft
I think 19 is a tough slot - you never know who is going to fall to you. So there are scenarios where teams are really tempted just to draft the best player available and I don't think that's ever a bad idea. So yes, we could take a receiver at 19 although we seem pretty set at receiver. But if our favorite linebacker, and our fave two linemen were off the board by then say, and one of our top receivers is still there, then sure, it could happen.riggofan wrote:Yeah I get it. Re: 2021 NFL Draft
What is all the crap about them trading up to get a QB. Haven't we been down that road before?. For God sakes WFT, take the best OT or WR on the board at #19.

I didn't watch enough college football last year to judge that to be honest. He certainly is highly regarded.riggofan wrote:

There have been some pretty good Penn State linebackers in the NFL.

Man I was such a huge LaVar fan when he came out. Always kills me that he didn't have the long career as a Redskin that I expected.BossHog wrote:I didn't watch enough college football last year to judge that to be honest. He certainly is highly regarded.

This D is shaping up to be nasty so again, linebacker wouldn't be a position I'd complain to see us draft.
Here's another Q for you guys. I've seen a couple highly regarded CBs touted in the first round this year. Is a shutdown CB really a priority or need in a Rivera defense? Can't hurt to have, but it seems like his defenses have a way of making average corners look better.

Re: 2021 NFL Draft
Same answer as the receiver answer, but I think that if there's a rockstar at CB, it's a little more tempting than a WR. I like our CB tandem but it's a little easier to see a rookie phenom finding his way there, than at WR.riggofan wrote:Man I was such a huge LaVar fan when he came out. Re: 2021 NFL Draft
Btw assuming no trade up required, are there any QBs you guys would be tempted by at #19 if he fell? Lance, Jones, Fields?
Conventional wisdom would say its unlikely any of those guys are still there, but every year I watch the draft and realize Mel Kiper is guessing at stuff with about the same accuracy I am!

I'm JK. it's tough isn't it? Listen, with our owner... any QB draft scenario is plausible. He likes splashy first round QBs.
So if any of those three are even close to available at 19, watch out. Consider that we have an "extra" third round pick at #74 and it's easy to see a move happening. if we give up our second round pick, that's typically about 400 points on a draft value chart, and with the 875 of our first round pick, enough to move up a few spots in the first round. Teams are more likely to want a first rounder next year, but I'm just saying there's a formula there for getting deals done. The Patriots are at 15 and love doing stuff like that. Our extra third round pick is worth about 220 on a draft chart. That's not much but might be enough to move up one or two spots.
I'm not trying to say that it will happen. I certainly hope we don't give up any picks and just draft well at 19, but there's certainly a blueprint there that forces me to ultimately answer your question with a yes. Any of those three could bring about a quarterback selection by us. We might even give up a bit to get there.

Re: 2021 NFL Draft
I like the way you are thinking. Offense starts with the O-Line. Just as Mahomes, LOL. But from what I've read there are no mid first round tackle projections. Certainly that means we could trade down, but most teams want to trade down for more picks. So many people throw out trading down like you can just do it.skins fan in indiana wrote:I don’t know about anyone else, but with that first pick I hope they grab the best tackle on the board. I'd be happy trading down if the opportunity does arise and taking a late first round tackle, but if we have to stay there, I'm a strong advocate of taking taking the best player. We can find so many cases through history of taking the best player we seemingly didn't really need and their being a long term Redskin and few where we stretched and it worked out

Well, we can all agree that we pray they don't do something stupid. If they do trade down, I hope they get there guy.
Im still sticking with best OL at #19, if not OL, best WR, CB or LB on the board.
There is no question we will have alot to discuss on draft night...lol
