Of Course This Happens to the Redskins

Reuben Foster carted off with knee injury, minutes into first OTA
https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2 ... first-ota/
Washington linebacker Reuben Foster took the practice field for the first time with his team today but lasted just a few minutes.

Foster was carted off the practice field just after the start of Organized Team Activities. Reporters on the scene described Foster as getting his left knee attended to while he cried in pain.

Washington took a great deal of criticism for claiming Foster off waivers in November, days after the 49ers released him when he was arrested following a domestic violence accusation at the team hotel. Foster was immediately placed on the commissioner’s exempt list, but when those charges were dropped months later, Foster was not suspended.

There’s no immediate word on the severity of Foster’s injury, but it’s now possible that Foster won’t play in Washington not because of a suspension, but because of an injury in his very first practice with the team.

#Redskins LB Reuben Foster carted off just now. Left leg injury. Sobbing as he was driven back to the team facility.

Not a joke.

They're reportedly fearing he blew out his ACL. So he probably definitely blew out his ACL.

Is Fed Ex built on top of a burial ground?

I mean, this many injuries wouldn't even be believable in a football movie script.
I know he got a pretty good zip on the ball. He has a quick release. . . once I seen a coupla' throws, I was just like 'Yeah, he's that dude.'"

Well to be fair they were playing in an open air situation and nobody appeared to be wearing bubble wrap. So you know, its not completely surprising that something like this would happen.

I suppose people would rather it happens during regulation games when the team has no options.

Wouldve been nice to get some production from him... And groom the youngsters a bit before elevating one to the starting role

It is if every ass to come down the pike wants to blame "karma" for the injury.

Man, I don't believe in kharma any more than I blame the training staff for injuries. Just saying, we've had a freaking terrible run of bad luck on the injury front. Its crazy how we can't catch a break!

If you need a freak injury the Redskins are your team. Theismann. RGIII. And a ton more I'm too lazy to list. Didn't one of our cornerbacks tear an ACL on a treadmill or something?

Junior Gallette? Lol.

That's for damn sure. Man, I'll be the first to say every team deals with injuries, but we sure get more than our fair share.

I heard somebody making the case the other day that teams should skip the OTA stuff for just this reason. Have to see if I can dig up the article.

I'll be honest mostly I'm just bummed because the defense has been shaping up so nicely. I'm sure Foster won't be the last guy we lose to an injury this year, but I wish we'd at least gotten to see him in this defense for a game or two.

We also let another player go because we assumed Foster could take his place. As of right this moment I'm considerably less enthusiastic about the front seven. The line is a strength but its the linebackers who have to make plays in a 3-4. I've never really been a fan of 3-4 defenses even if we usually line up in a 4-3. Now we're going to be scraping the bottom of barrels looking for a middle linebacker. The free agency list isn't exactly a who's who of talent. I don't think Zach Vigil is an equivalent replacement for Reuben Foster.

Of course just like Alex's broken leg, it can't just be your average ACL...they are saying that there may be artery damage???

Yeah the line is beastly but teams absolutely murdered us last year throwing those short passes to TEs that our LBs couldn't keep up with.

We DO have a little depth at ilb.. The rook and SDH should be able to make it not as devastating. Im not a huge Mason Foster fan, but he is decent

Yeah I heard dudes on the radio last night suggesting that Holcombe might have to step up. But it seems crazy to be banking on a 5th round pick who hasn't played a snap in the NFL yet as a starting LB. I mean it would be great if he's the guy, but that just seems unlikely.

Seems like they have to look at FAs, don't you think?
