Ross Pierschbacher is extremely agile and quick. If he can get in that weight room and get stronger with some real focus on doing so he is also going to be a beast. Madich said that if you could combine Martin and him into one you would have the ultimate O Lineman. I see Ross being able to add strength much easier than Martin getting more agile but they are both good right now and are an upgrade from what we have day 1.

Getting Martin in tremendous endurance shape and getting Ross in the weight room can only make these picks even better. These were really good picks.

We still need a TE that can catch and block at an elite level. Gruden still needs a two TE set. They had two for the pass game but neither Reed nor Davis can block so it gave the intention away and if they called a run just to try and keep them honest two guys weren't getting blocked

Pierschbacher played all three interior line positions, left guard, center, and right guard. That alone is why I wanted the Skins to draft him. Center and left guard are the weak links in the offensive line. I still think the plan is to try Ereck Flowers at guard. But they just added two quality linemen who don't have to start immediately. I'm still in shock the Redskins drafted this well.

Yeah kind of bummed we weren't able to land a TE in this draft. There were a lot of decent options. I say "bummed" relatively. Never going to address everything in a single draft.

I'm with you on the OL picks though. Love to see them continue to bring guys in through the draft.

That Bryce Love pick is the strangest one to me. I'm still digesting it. I like the strategy of getting guys later who have fallen because of risky situations. We're definitely a team that needs some lucky moves like that. I can see the team stashing him on IR this year, letting him get healthy and we'll have a potentially good RB to add to the rotation in 2020. On the other hand, I saw a few guys note that there were some safeties and CBs on the board then that may have been able to help us NOW.

Good, well thought out draft grade article this morning:
https://www.rotoworld.com/article/draft ... nap-grades

Dallas: F
Giants: D
Philly: A-
Skins: A+
It feels weird to love a Redskins class, but Washington crushed it this year. Haskins at 1.15 was such a coup, as was Sweat at 1.26. Also loved the dart-throw on Love, and scooping up possession WR Kelvin Harmon at a clearance price.

Says every GM ever!

Lol but seriously, these arent a dime a dozen players. Usually you get one or the other, and elite in one skillset is even hard to find. The Gronks and Cooleys are rare gifts. Sprinkle and Reed on the field is a good way to disguise run or pass- Sprinkle being the better blocker, the D might just crash his way for run and put a db on Reed. But Reed isnt on the field enough to know how thatd work

Damn I wish Reed could stay healthy

Yea i think Gruden tried that and said he still needs to be able to go with two TEs of a double threat so to speak. Why? Because Gruden likes two tight end plays. I'm sure he has tried all the possibilities our TEs have to offer because his comments were made after the season was over. Bringing in different tight ends for different type plays that is. I'm sure Gruden has considered the possibilities with what he has.

Two tight end sets would be a complete waste of Haskins' talents.

What are they exactly other than the big arm that two tight ends would ruin his day?

Other than one less receiver in the set? Did we get some receivers that can get open on their own while I was sleeping?

What are you saying exactly? Two tight ends would take away a receiver so that wastes his talents? That makes no sense. Surely that is not what you are trying to say. I misunderstand what you're trying to say

Unless you are conceding he just needs his receivers to go long and out run everyone like they did in college. That's it right? Although that won't happen in the NFL often. No that can't be it either. I guess

Explain to me again why two tight ends would waste his talents. I gots to know.. Dirty Harry like

I am excited about this draft. Been out of town, out of touch after the Haskins draft, but this draft looks fine.

I think it's even funnier they took him because he was coached by the same guy who coached Eli and Peyton. Like that's got anything to do with the ability to play the position. Hey, maybe he'll throw as many picks as Eli.
Rumor has it that Manning Inc. lobbied heavily for young Mr Jones... Crazy.

Wes Martin

Had 1469 snaps at guard allowing just two sacks over his last two seasons, best amongst all collegiate guards

Martin, a 6-foot-3, 316 lbs. mauler, comes to the Redskins with a reputation for brute strength. Speaking with the media, Martin explained that he was disappointed in his bench press performance at his Pro Day when he posted 225 lbs. 38 times. That's a lot.

The only thing better than unhappy Giants fans is unhappy Cowboys fans. Gettleman swears both Denver and Washington would have drafted Daniel Jones if he hadn't taken him at #6. I'm just not seeing that. Jones was a bottom of the first round prospect at best by every evaluation I read. But, if he is what Gettleman claims he is, then why sit him behind Eli for any amount of time? I can understand why Giants fans are not happy. I am though. We now have a defense built to stop Saquon Barkley and they have no passing game, especially with their best receiver now playing in Cleveland.

I'm just starting to think that Gettleman is not a good GM. It would make me incredibly happy to see him continue to set them back for the next several years.

I've been tied up recently and haven't been able to focus on Redskins. I was not enthused at all by idea to trade up for Haskins, but to sit tight and get Haskins? I'm pretty excited. I like the Montez Sweat gamble.

Good draft. Decent free agency period.

If Redskins don't have another consecutive season of brutal injuries then we may have a solid team.

Team has been decimated two years in a row with injuries. My opinion has been that this is bad luck, not a systemic problem with the Redskins training staff or coaches or whatever. I'm 99% confident Guice didn't tear his ACL because he wasn't stretched properly.

Players always get injured, but if 2019 is anything remotely like the past two years on the injury front then not only is something insanely wrong in Ashburn but the NFLPA should demand an investigation.

Ligaments get torn because something bends in a direction it isn't supposed to bend. You never see video of a guy whose knee bent straight back who ends up with an ACL, MCL, PCL, etc. tear. I've seen a few weird cases of sprains or strains from a properly bent knee. We've had some terrible luck. Scherff with a torn pectoral? Thompson with a rib injury? These are things no amount of conditioning prevents. We don't even need to talk about Shaun "The Walking Wounded" Lauvao. Bringing him back was a desperation move.

In short, I agree with both of you. We're due to catch the breaks with the injuries. Let another team have a turn.

Seriously. Another injury year like we've had, and I'm going to start believing Snyder once murdered a gypsy and has been carrying around a curse ever since.

As long as that gypsy wasn't Stevie Nicks. She can have me any time she wants.

Jumping in this thread very late.

I just want to say that having been a Redskins fan for over 50 years now, this is the first time I ever felt "proud" of this team's draft efforts. Are they gonna finish 10-6 or better and make the playoffs now? I sincerely doubt it; however, I truly think I join many other Redskins fans out there with more optimism than I've had in quite some time.

Holcomb's path to immediate playing time likely comes through special teams, but it's not like this defense is stacked at inside linebacker. Reuben Foster is cleared to play for now but counting on him for 16 games would be irresponsible, and Shaun Dion Hamilton and Mason Foster don't have the athleticism that Holcomb has.

You have every right to be fired up about Haskins and Sweat and McLaurin and everyone else. Just don't forget about Holcomb.

"Well when you’re looking at linebackers this day in age, you want to make sure they have the ability to cover in space and that’s what his gift is," Gruden said. "He’s very good out in space."

Holcomb the gem in the draft. Maybe even Moreland.
