Free Agency 2019

Another Alabama guy. Big surprise!

Report: Washington wants to clear space to pursue C.J. Mosley

Washington wants to upgrade at linebacker.

And that could mean getting rid of a few existing options to pursue an upgrade.

According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, Washington wants to make a run at soon-to-be Ravens free agent C.J. Mosley, and is prepared to move some guys to make it happen.

We're definitely gearing up to make a run at Nick Saban, aren't we? :)

Maybe with Louis Riddick as GM?

I'm hearing he wants to go back to Philly.

Its pretty wild that we haven't made any moves yet heading into FA. I'd expect at least a few guys to be released to free up cap space.

Should probably keep in mind that the team has largely stayed out of that first round of FA spending craziness the past few years.

Mosley will probably be too expensive IMO. But if you could have one or the other, you would take Landon Collins?

Collins is only behind Amos as far as top rated free agent safeties...

But ya, I just like the guy- a lot. Wanted to draft him honestly.. And like to watch him play- except vs us lol

He LOVES ST, and maybe was a skins fan? I think he will bring a great dynamic ro our back field. Like DJ did, but play better then he did

We need to cut dead weight man... Like DJ last year-

We arent the pats, but they routinely cut people and add new pieces. Football guys. Not just good players... Smart players that fit.
I think this is good- way better then signing Haha

Rumor is they're shopping Zach Brown and Mason Foster to make room for Mosley.

Hopefully get some clarity on Reuben Foster's situation sooner than later too. Anyone heard any news on that?

Not surprising. I'll be bummed to see Crowder go, but he was such a non factor last year with injuries and the year before he killed us repeatedly fumbling punts. I like him and still think he'll be a good player. These past two years have definitely softened the blow for me though.

Word is they want Preston Smith too.

That's a shame. We're SO close to starting a complete Alabama defense. :)

One interesting thing I read yesterday was that Philly signing DJax eats up a ton of $$ at the WR position for them. DJax is guaranteed something like $13m. $15m for Alshon Jeffrey. And nearly $10m for Nelson Agholor. A lot of money at WR but they can release Agholor with no cap trouble. Might be a guy worth waiting on to see if he becomes available since we'll need to replace Crowder.

btw I would not have minded seeing DJax back here, but not at that money. 33 year old WR who hasn't had over 800 yards the past two years? Maybe they know something we don't but seems like a weird move for Philly. Not sure why they didn't wait for Tampa to release him and get him at a more reasonable deal.

Maybe it's just my age but I can recall when "Bama" was a derogatory term. 8-[

Yea, Philly went all-in on receivers but I don't think that gets them over the hump. For one thing their starting QB can't stay healthy. I do like DJax and I still talk to his mother once in a while. I'm just not sure he fits on the Skins with two QBs whose arm strength isn't exactly their best attribute.

lol. You saying Colt McCoy can't overthrow DJax?? :D

I don't know that much about Keenum but his college stats were pretty impressive. From wiki:
He played college football for Houston, where he became the NCAA's all-time leader in total passing yards, touchdowns, and completions. In the 2008 college football season, Keenum ranked first nationally in total offense and second in total passing yards
Don't know how that correlates to arm strength or if he was doing a lot of dink and dunk.

I would never put "college football" and "defense" in the same sentence. I'm not taking anything away from Keenum's accomplishments. He still had to leapfrog a lot of well-known names to do what he did.

But the NFL game is a different game. Everything is faster and they actually play defense or at least try to play defense. I'm not sure about now but a few years ago no QB in the league could overthrow Desean.

No, of course not. I have only a slight interest in college football, just watch games sporadically myself. So I was just kind of surprised to hear the other day that Keenum had such a stellar NCAA career. He wasn't well known to me. I mostly knew of him from when he was on Hard Knocks with the Rams!

I love how FA starts on Wednesday, but all of these guys are pretty well wrapped up Tuesday morning.

Preston Smith is A GREEN BAY PACKER! Wow, good for him.

I think they knew they couldn't afford to pay Preston Smith market value. I always felt like he never quite took the next step but who knows? Maybe he does in Green Bay. It seems like a lot of players make the jump after they leave the Skins.

I doubt seriously Bruce Allen is done. If he's in free agency for a penny he's in free agency for a pound.

Wow, Ty Nsekhe got paid too:
Bills agree to deal with Ty Nsekhe

The Bills continue to add pieces on the offensive side of the ball on Tuesday.

After reaching agreement on a deal with center Mitch Morse, running back Frank Gore and tight end Tyler Kroft on Monday, they have done the same with wide receivers John Brown and Cole Beasley. Tackle Ty Nsekhe can be added to the haul as well.

Nsekhe’s agent said, via Mike Garafolo of NFL Media, that his client has agreed to a two-year, $14.5 million deal. There are $7.7 million in guarantees included in the deal.

Nsekhe spent the last four seasons in Washington and largely served as a swing tackle. He made 16 starts over the course of his time with the team.
That's definitely another hole that we'll have to fill. Good for Nsekhe though, he definitely earned a nice paycheck.

The Bills paid a 33 year old backup swing tackle a ton of money. He'll be 34 right after the season starts. I liked him but younger and cheaper is good.
