So, Matt Canavaugh has been reassigned, Kevin O'Connell has been promoted to offensive coordinator, and Tim Rattay has been hired as quarterbacks coach.

All we need now is Larry, Moe, and Curly.

It means he wasn't any good as OC so now they want to "promote" him by making him "Director Of Things And Stuff". He's going to be given some kind of offensive oversight role.

So weird, man... I need a promotion like that.

Not at all. He's nothing special from anything I've seen. Even this lousy QB draft has better options.

I mean his highlights look aiiight.. At least now we dont have to give up the farm if Az wants a kings ransom.. We also have a qb now and an option to take the bpa and roll with Keenum. Im ok with what ever happens honestly- so long as we dont mortgage the future with multiple picks for Chosen Rosen

My gut still tells me the Redskins are gonna deal Keenum & a 3rd for Rosen.

Yeah I've heard that speculation. Making those moves and playing that kind of chess really seem beyond this front office, but who knows?

Another QB needy team likely off the board ahead of #15:

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2 ... eal-today/

I like Foles for the Jags. That was a pretty good team if their quarterback wasn't terrible.

Really looks to me like only the Giants, Broncos and Dolphins are in the early QB market this draft. And all of those are debatable.

I think you can scratch the Broncos since they just signed Joe Flacco. He's not exactly ancient.

I thought so too, and they spent a lot of money on him. But I've at least read otherwise that the Broncos may still be in the market to draft a QB.

Skins looking trade up to #3 for Haskins...? Would you approve?

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/2019 ... e-haskins/
League sources say Washington is already among the teams sniffing around, and with pretty much every GM in the league wholeheartedly convinced that QB Kyler Murray is going first overall, and San Francisco likely to take its top defensive player on the board second overall (early money is on pass rusher Nick Bosa), then the Jets very well could be sitting pretty with that third pick as an avenue for a QB-needy team to jump ahead of the Giants (sixth overall) to land Ohio State QB Dwayne Haskins. There is a readily-accepted drop-off in the quarterback class beyond that, and while the need is not as robust as in some past years, it only takes one team to make the move.
No opinion on this potential move one way or the other myself, but I think its great for this information to be out there.

The Skins have too many needs to be trading picks for any QB prospect in this draft. They're simply not graded high enough and they don't pass the eye test for me. Take Lock if you can get him without moving up.

You pretty much know two things: You're going to have a higher draft pick next year and there will be better prospects next year.

No - we're not just a player or 2 away from making the playoffs or from having Jay Gruden as the HC in 2020 - we need to continue to add as many good young players as we can and hope that we get a new GM along with a new HC after this season
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Yeah yeah. We can add good young players for the next 20 years. We're not winning anything without a QB.

I'm mostly with you though. I might trade next year's first rounder to move up for Haskins if he's that good. Just wouldn't do another RG3 type trade. ever.

Sit tight at #15 and wait for Will Grier!
West Virginia quarterback Will Grier “put on a show” for scouts at the school’s Pro Day, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

All 32 teams were in attendance to watch Grier, including head coaches Pat Shurmur, Jay Gruden and Mike Tomlin and executives Kevin Colbert, Marty Hurney and Nick Caserio, according to Aditi Kinkhabwala of the NFL Media.

Schefter calls Grier a “riser” as the draft grows closer.

Grier will meet with at least 10 teams, including the Giants, Chargers, Patriots, Saints and Washington.

Don't completely agree. Gruden's benching RG3 in favor of Cousins was a very good decision. I think there's a case to be made that trading for Alex Smith wasn't a bad decision either. Freak injury aside, he was winning games.

Alex Smith was certainly an upgrade over Cousins - that's not really saying much AND the whole Cousins fiasco was horrendous for this franchise

there's a few good decisions and very few, really good decisions that are completely wiped out by bad and really bad decisions

there's a reason this franchise is in the mess it is in and why most people in the media and the NFL think it is one of the bottom 5 franchises constantly

freak injuries and bad luck have nothing to do with it

Draft a WR, even though the last first round WR the Redskins drafted and who did well was: Art Monk, 1980. Before that? Charley Taylor. Drop Doctson and Richardson.

We know about Josh Doctson, and the second round flops in the Zorn years, and the guy (Rod Gardner?) who complained when Joe Gibbs did not consult him on how to run the offense. Before that was Westbrook. Ugh.

Maybe someone in the front office can pick better?

At QB, Keenum is good enough to fill the space until 2020.

There is definitely one WR I'd take a hard look at if he is there at #15 but I expect he will be long gone by then. D.K. Metcalf. I think they would want to trade down if they take any other WR in the 1st.

I'm sure you can agree that a bad front office is not helped by the starting QB going down unexpectedly with a compound fracture. Of course luck and injuries play a part. Its moronic to suggest otherwise. If I'm a terrible driver I have a very good chance of wrecking my car. If I'm a terrible driver and I'm unlucky enough to have a drunk driver swerve into my lane, I'm probably extra f***d.
