2019 draft

Post by SkinsJock »

I know it's a ways away but we got 4 extra picks ... https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/2019 ... nal-picks/
now hopefully we don't do anything stupid ... like we normally do
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

No matter what they do you'll think it's stupid. We're all frustrated by this franchise but having to read your negativity every thread is getting tiresome.

Lead the league this year with four comp picks. I'll take it!

Got a higher comp pick for Cousins than the one used to draft him.

This is a fact. There is more than enough negativity around this team. Loathsome owner. Frequently poor product on the field.

I just try to support the players. Support the coaches if you can. Whatever you think of the rest of that organization, those guys are out there risking their health all of the time for your entertainment. Coaches are putting in ridiculous hours. If you can't find something to enjoy about the team, why bother?

Following Viking twitter is sort of hilarious right now.

And I know this is wildly off topic but did I see Mike Shanahan say yesterday that Cousins just needs "better players around him" in Minnesota???

Cousins would choke under pressure if he had ten Jesus clones on offense with him. Funny how Tom Brady never needs better players to be successful.

For real. They were in the NFC championship game the previous year with those players. I would not be pleased if I were a Viking to be hearing that type of excuse.

Here's a list to check as the Redskins begin to draft. I hope they ignore QB with their top picks. Too many holes in the lineup. They can lose with a rookie QB or they can lose with Colt McCoy.

The NFL’s annual underwear Olympics — with its hand measurements and vertical leaps and Wonderlic tests — begins Tuesday as 32 teams look for their next difference-maker from among 337 invitees to the 2019 combine in Indianapolis.

The Redskins need several, but one Alex Smith-sized hole will continue to dominate discussions until the quarterback position is addressed in free agency and/or the draft.

Washington also has deficiencies at safety, edge rusher, guard and receiver but all are secondary to the most important position in football. That doesn’t mean the organization will, or must, select a quarterback with the No. 15 pick in the first round on April 25, but the homework done this week will go a long way toward making that determination.

A list of 10 players to watch this week could be made up entirely of quarterbacks, but we’ll include a few others who could also be in play in the first two rounds of the draft. The Redskins, armed with a second-round pick, two third-rounders and two fifth-rounders, also have some draft capital to make moves.

They should lose Colt McCoy and roll with Josh Johnson and a rookie QB or two. At this point all Colt does is cost money they don't have for a luxury they can't afford.

I'm also hoping that we just keep adding good young players - and then we just hope we get lucky

Why do you even participate in these discussions? There are all of about six members coming here right now and they're all looking for something positive about the upcoming season. Do you start discussions to hear yourself talk? Forums are a bad place for that. The way this forum and forums in general and the team in general are all going if someone wants to come here and talk about their dick I'm good with it as long as they can make it Redskins or NFL related and keep it positive.

Good read, thanks for sharing. I'll be honest I'm hoping that they like and take a shot on Drew Lock or Daniel Jones and add another good offensive lineman in the second or third round. I know there are plenty of other holes on the roster, but just what I'd like to see that will raise my interest going into next season.

I read something the other day arguing that the Redskins aren't in as bad cap shape as people are assuming. I think the argument was basically that we can't go pay a top FA quarterback because of Alex, but otherwise we're in OK shape to make a few moves in free agency and we're better off than a lot of other teams. Will be interesting to see. I'd be pretty happy if they're able to grab Landon Collins.

If you have a link to that I'd like to read it because the last I knew they have about $17MM in cap space and they have to keep about $5MM of that for draft signings and emergency signings.

Damn can't seem to find it. You're right about the $17mm number. One thing I remember from the article though is that they can add another $11m in space just by letting Zach Brown and Vernon Davis go. There's some moves to be made.

I kind of wonder if they won't move on from Josh Norman too. They could save $12.5 by letting him go and still find a less expensive alternative. That move wouldn't surprise me at all.

There are teams in worse shape right now. The Eagles have something like $500k currently. :D

I'd be stunned if they keep Brown and Norman. They already have Brown's replacement and Norman has been downright awful for his salary. He should be a shutdown corner for that money. I'm almost positive they don't want to let Clinton-Dix walk since safety has been their nemesis for as long as ST has been gone. TE is a problem if they let Davis go because Reed can't ever stay healthy. Could still see it happening.

I've really liked Vernon Davis here, but I imagine they could move Jeremy Sprinkle up to be the #2 TE at less cost.

Think I'm with you on Norman unfortunately. I like him but not sure we've gotten the bang for the $$ there.

Ditch Brown and Norman, restructure Reed maybe.. Cut and resign Vernon to a better cap deal and then Collins21 from NYg!
Go after Foles or draft a qb.

Keep seeeing skins as top3 teams interested in AB. Certainly would get the fan base attention any struggling team would want. Yes our fo likes to keep us excited... As they should.

With Collins and AB id post moar and watch the draft and first 10 games at least!!

I'm basing this off nothing but gut reaction, but I'm not that hyped about Antonio Brown myself. Probably just from seeing him force his way out of a team like Pittsburgh.

I'll be curious to see what they do about Josh Norman though. I can see the case for releasing him, but I would kind of be surprised to see it happen.

Brown is a luxury the Redskins can't afford. Norman is a non-luxury the Redskins can't afford. If they're ever going to fix anything they need to start by dumping all these contracts that are killing the cap and not signing anyone else whose contract kills the cap. A year or two of "Who the hell is that guy?" is exactly the right solution. Signing guys like Brown or Collins or anyone else when you're three years away is a waste of cap. Yea, I know. They keep telling us they're close. *sh$t*. That's a sales pitch. They know they're nowhere close. The difference between six or seven wins and ten or eleven wins is astronomical.

To be fair we were head of the east when one guy got hurt.. We arent that far we arent that close. I agree we probably cant and shouldn't, just saying I wouldn't be TOTALLY shocked. We need waives created to waken the dead fan base. Didnt say it was right or wrong.

Personally I DO want Collins... Then make what ever needs to happen to get a damn qb Jay and Doug really want. THEN we see if we are as good as we thought we were last August. D is close, Collins makes it closer. Guice helps, a lot, and a guard or 3 should help too lmao

Brown is likely a no go... But his departure from Pitt would be more concerning if the whole Bell fiasco didnt happen. There's some strange ish going on there.

Collins will be 29 by the time this team *f$ck* itself if they do everything right. When does this team ever do everything right?
