Swearinger cut

Manusky got Butt hurt. They cut one of our best defenders. I guess it sends a message, but with the players we have on D, we should be really really good.

I think it's best that the team cut Swearinger. Too much complaining.

Of course it might have been better to trade him as soon as trades are allowed, but...

From the Post:
The Washington Redskins released safety D.J. Swearinger on Monday, following his critical comments about the coaching staff after Saturday’s 25-16 loss to the Tennessee Titans.

Swearinger ripped defensive coordinator Greg Manusky to the media following Saturday’s game and questioned the play-calling. Coach Jay Gruden, who said Sunday he would make a decision on discipline after speaking with Swearinger, texted a reporter Monday, “We just thought it was best for both parties.”

He lamented the fact that the two had spoken earlier in the season about Swearinger making critical comments to the media.

“Thought we squashed it,” Gruden said. “I guess not.”

Swearinger has 51 tackles and four interceptions in 2018 and has been one of the most vocal players on the team. He was voted a Pro Bowl alternate this season and analytics site Pro Football Focus currently grades Swearinger the No. 11 safety in the league this season.

Another case of "Shut your mouth and know your place!" from the NFL. Funny how they never release White players for shooting their mouths off.

It sends a message, but to me the message is one of desperation and a locker room that's gotten out of control. Not a good sign at all that we released him.

Not surprised at all by this. Jonathan Allen's tweet tells you all you need to know about what his teammates thought of him and why his next team will be his fifth since he joined the leauge!!

We're releasing Pro Bowl players who are pissed off that we lost a game we needed to win. We could use a lot more Pro Bowl players who are pissed off when we lose games we needed to win.

I have been a Redskins fan since 1945. I have seen the great, good, bad and really bad teams. This years version of the Redskins is one of the worst if not the worst. Yes, Swearinger should not have said what he did publicly but he only said what is true. Manusky called a lousy came. I hoped Gruden would be the HC to turn the Redskins around but he's not. His teams have been riddled with injuries and issues. There comes a time when the owner must make changes. It's a shame that the owner can't be changed as well.

Welp... This sucks.

Likely the right move- but still sucks.

Conflicted about this. DJS really needed to STFU. I understand he was frustrated by Manusky. But I also watched him out there whiffing tackles on Sunday. Just do your job, man.

That said he's a decent safety who stays healthy, and at least he seemed to give a s*** about winning and losing.

They lost the locker room. Most fans lost interest several seasons ago. No more waiting list. Empty seats. TV ratings down. All good if you are with me to believe that things must get far worse before they get better.

I certainly hope nobody in any State or City government is stupid enough to subsidize Snyder with any hard earned taxpayers money to build a new stadium. Hospitals, schools and infrastructure would be much worthier targets.
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

the Raiders and Packers both submitted a waiver claim on new Cardinals S D.J. Swearinger. Arizona had top priority based on its 3-12 record.

Only three (losing) teams put in a claim, I know many playoff teams didn't put in a claim knowing they wouldn't get him...still that more didn't is telling.
Interesting that Gruden's brother put in a claim??
