Yeah man. I'd hate to see that happen, but with Smith unavailable AND eating up a huge chunk of salary cap, maybe that turns out to be the only path? Who knows?

hah. Gotta admit I'm kind of enjoying that we're having these convesations in the "feeling optimistic" thread.
Anybody watch the Giants/Eagles on Sunday? Those teams are both horrendous. I'm not saying it will happen, but a Cowboys loss to the Saints on Thursday and a Skins win vs. the Eagles on Monday, and we'll all be back to feeling optimistic again.

The Cowboys will lose to the Saints. I'm optimistic about that.

I'm still optimistic about the rest of this season and hope we can get lucky & make the playoffs
BUT
nothing changes the bad decisions that have been made here since 2012 - whoever made them should not be a part of this franchise going forward
riggofan wrote: ... I felt like the team was making good progress with building an NFL caliber roster (as compared to previous years). But this QB mess could set them back three years. There's just NO WAY a GM should be able to keep his job with that type of resume.
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

2012 starting o-line
LT Trent Williams
LG Kory Lichtensteiger
C Will Montgomery
RG Chris Chester
RT Tyler Polumbus
lol. Its a better roster now than 2012. Especially when you compare the number of players on the 2018 roster drafted and developed by the team.
Its too bad none of that matters much because of how poorly the QB situation has been handled since... forever.

I just want this franchise to be better managed and better coached - any person under Dan Snyder that has been a part of the decision making that led to this QB situation and the many other mistakes that have cost this franchise opportunities to improve should be let go
we need a big time house cleaning - I'm optimistic about the rest of this season and I'm optimistic about a number of the players we have

winning this next game is all that matters - this season has proven that the team that is 'favored' is more likely on the losing end of things on game day
GO SKINS

Jinx !
We have to be the most cursed team in the league. If we're being honest no team in the NFC East is going anywhere in the playoffs but Dallas is complete trash and yet they always manage to win games they have no business winning if it means knocking the Redskins out of the playoffs. Every year the Skins are a potential playoff team they manage to choke to Dallas or Dallas manages to get the only win against a 15-1 team.
The good news is Jason Garrett will be getting an extension.

Kinda ticks me off they essentially got consecutive Thanksgiving games at home.
No way the Saints look that bad with a full week to get ready which is what the Cowgirls had. Yes, I'm a sore loser but it still ticks me off and it ain't right.
That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.
Hog Bowl III, V, X Champion (2011, 2013, 2018)
Hognostication Champion (2011, 2013, 2016)
Hognostibowl XII Champion (2017, 2018)
Scalp 'em, Swamp 'em, We will take 'em big score! Read 'em, Weep 'em Touchdown, We want heap more!

Yea, the league can kiss my entire ass for giving the cowpies a home Thanksgiving game every effing year.

That would give us a 9-5 record with 2 games still not considered - @ JAG and @ TEN.
Let's be optimistic.
I thought about "us", but remembered that none of "us", fans, go out on the field. The Redskins are our team, as bad as they play, as bad as the Snyder - Allen organization is and has been. It is grim. The sort of thing that chooses out loyal fans. I always hope the Redskins win, just as I always hope that Snyder goes bankrupt and sells the team. Yes, Snyder reminds me of George Preston Marshall.

So, that was your comment on the WaPo article. I thought so.

I remember 1999 and thinking how neat it was that a 34 year old "fan" owned the franchise - it's hard to believe that he doesn't have a clue about owning and managing an NFL franchise OR that he has not learned ANYTHING from his many bad mistakes PLUS he seems determined to make sure that nobody but himself get's any credit for making the franchise better
despite all this and as bad as things are, I also count myself as a loyal fan of the Redskins
this isn't really Dan Snyder's team, he's just the current owner - this will always be our team

Context: I always remember a scene from an early '90s TV show called "Brooklyn Bridge". In it, the little boy is a devoted fan of the Knicks. At the end of an NBA playoff, which the Knicks have lost, the boy see's his favorite player slumped in a chair.
Boy walks over, says, "Without you we wouldn't have gotten this far".
Player lifts his head, sneers, says, "We, kid?"
I always remember that when I'm tempted to call the Nats or Redskins "we" or "us".

Absolutely true but fans tend to get their knickers in a knot when someone suggests that they're not part of the team. It's not much of a selling point to both suck and alienate fans as not being "we" which the current owner has proven in spades. The scene I always think of when fans use "we" is from "Airplane" when Kareem Abdul Jabbar tells the kid to tell his old man to drag Walton and Lanier up and down the court for 48 minutes a night. There is definitely a hard line between being a player and being a fan.

really good for the Giants and against the #1 D in the NFL - great effort

Ya, they caught the up and coming Bears-> Missing the magic of Trubinsky tho... Not gonna say NYG is all of a sudden elite... Hell the best QB on the roster is also the best wr!! LMMFAO
We can beat em... Again

the giants and eagles have shown that they are terrible this season - beating the #1 D in the NFL does not mean they are a good team
we're a better team than the eagles and the giants this season - that doesn't mean that we'll win all of our games against them
the pukes just beat the Saints and they aren't even in the top half of the NFL - sometimes you get lucky and the other guys have a bad night
IF the Redskins play with the type of effort that we've seen a couple of times this season, we'll win this game tonite
