While I don't think Gruden is a good coach, I would never root against him or for him to fail.
I'll race you for it. I admit I predicted 7-9 before the season began. Also before they signed Adrian Peterson but that's my fault. 8-[
Don't get cocky, kid. You know damn well this franchise is more than capable of turning a 5-2 start into a 7-9 finish!!!

Man, CP's comments on the hip hip hooray thing were hilarious.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2 ... 9821527f7b
“What the hell we doing this for?” Portis recalled Monday. “What is that going to do for you? Does that make you say, ‘Ahhh, I’m about to go jump through this window. Ahhh, I’m about to give it to them today.’ I’m like, what the? I’m grown. I don’t even play that kind of game with my child . . . That’s how the locker room got divided. Because those dudes that was doing it, as a grown man, you’re sitting up here talking about ‘hip, hip’ and throwing it up, like, are you kidding me?"
Of all the things that went wrong with Zorn, I had no idea that the hooray thing was the final straw. :D

I'm hoping we win the next 9 games ... one game at a time

I'm also hoping that we get a new GM and while I don't think Jay Gruden is a bad coach I doubt that a new GM will keep him very long :D

OR ... Dan and Bruce may continue to run things and they will finally earn respect as the NFL geniuses they have always thought they were

maybe they can make this franchise into a regular playoff contender ROTFALMAO
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance

Another improvement I see is the overall lack of serious injuries. Last year at this time we had a good number of key players sidelined, this year we have the expected dings and aches you'd expect from pro football. I felt last year was excessive, something wrong in the conditioning of the players. I don't see that this year.

THANX

I am enjoying this season and I hope we can end up winning the NFC East - that would be awesome

I'm prepared to admit I was wrong about Dan and Bruce if they can turn this franchise into a consistent playoff contender but the win loss record and the lack of respect for this franchise is IMO mainly due to their mis-management

Winning the NFC East would be great but I doubt that these 2 can suddenly become good NFL managers - be great to be wrong ... again :)

I'm optimistic about this season but I'm not at all optimistic about Dan & Bruce ...

By what measure? They're ranked #8 in the league in passing yards allowed and tied at #16 in INTs. And we just added an elite safety to pair with our other elite safety. The corners are a little young and inexperienced outside of Norman. But not good?
I agree - Redskins Total D is #4 after 7 games and these stats include the rout against the Saints - this D and AP's running is helping make up for some not so great play from Alex Smith and Jay's often questionable play calling & decision making

Really - who is the GM that is doing such a 'solid' job? DW is not 'doing great' he's doing what he's told - drafting Payne and Allen were not good choices by the Redskins they were no-brainers ... we were very lucky to get them

you can hope we 'stay the course' and remain a mediocre franchise - I hope we get better and we will not do that unless we make changes

I'm optimistic but we need to change the way we operate or we will remain the same as we've been

Still feeling optimistic. Defense is young, and was not ready for the game. Offense was even more unready. Redskins are in the middle: able to beat the bottom third of the league. Atlanta is the bottom of the top third. Smith is OK, but not more than that, and he has no receivers. Where was Reed? Doctson?

OL was hurting.

Still: gotta have hope / Mustn't sit around and mope / Nothing's half as bad as it may appear / so wait'll next year / And hope.

So mch for optomism, the reality sets in that we still have the same head coach setting the game plan, calling the offense and not making the critical 1/2 time adjustments.
A smart play caller would have recognized the O line all banged up and would have dialed up nothing but 3 second dink and dunk passes until the defense adjusted, then given them a dose of AP. Any play caller sending in 7 step drop back play passes just doomed the O line, those holding calls were a direct result of bad play calling. I don't remember any screen plays, may have been a couple but certainly not any TE screens. A smart QB would have changed the play to his advantage and then argued with the coach later.

If you're still a day trader with this team, you're crazy. We're going to win some games this year, and we're going to lose some. Just like 90% of the league. Let's see if they can win more than they lose.

I was tied up all day Sunday and didn't get to watch or listen to the game. Sounded like a hot mess. I'll be curious to hear what the more sane opinions on here thought about it.

This is bad.
The Washington Redskins will be without three offensive starters for the rest of the season. Coach Jay Gruden announced that right guard Brandon Scherff suffered a torn pectoral muscle and left guard Shawn Lauvao a torn ACL during a 38-14 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, and wide receiver Paul Richardson is also done for the season after injuring the AC joint in his shoulder.

The injuries are a devastating blow to an offense that has struggled to score points this season and is clinging to a one-game lead in the NFC East at the halfway point of their season.

Washington was already dealing with several key injuries on offense. Star left tackle Trent Williams missed the Atlanta game following thumb surgery, and he is expected to be out another two to three games, according to Gruden.

this is directed at Grampi and other doubters ...

C'mon man! - we're 5-3 - certainly, we should have beaten the Falcons but we did what we seem to do a lot - we found a way to lose

every team has injuries and the good ones find a way to manage - there was no way that we could have won that game with those O line injuries but the test is that the coaches and the FO have to find a way to be competitive for the next 8 games - fortunately the first 8 games were thought to be the 'tough' part of the season - we just need to find a way to go 5-3 over the next 8 games

I know we're not a good team but this is the Redskins and you never know what the guys in charge might do - we could get lucky and find some more players like Peterson that many thought would not help this franchise much

I'm optimistic - if things don't get better here I'm optimistic that there may be some changes that will ensure we will get better

We should have beat the Falcons but found a way to lose? I'm 99% sure that neither of those statements is true.

But I do appreciate your continued optimism today. :)

it's simple - we're a 5-2 team playing at home and we're on a 3 game win streak ... the oddsmakers 'opened' at 3 went to 1.5 and on Sunday were back at 2.5 - a lot of people that don't care about the Redskins thought that they were going to win

I thought we'd be hard pressed to win this game but I did not think that most of the guys involved (coaches & players) would not do their jobs well

we stunk - we're not that bad - it really pisses me off that people want to make excuses

sure we lost players but we did not look good at all before we lost those players

I'm optimistic .... but these guys are certainly trying my patience

SkinsJock - When will you learn not to get your hopes up on the Skins? They could be 7-1 right now, and I would still expect them to blow it. They've gotten our hopes up before, only to stomp them in the dirt. They're still coached by Jay Gruden and owned by Dan Snyder...that should tell you all you need to know...

With "fans" like these who needs enemies. What tells me all I need to know is how certain people are always the first to jump on the bitching bandwagon but never around when the team is performing well or winning games no one expects them to win. Not a single *f$ck* peep out of these "fans" for the last three weeks, all of which were wins, but now we hear from them.

*f$ck* off. You're not fans. [-(
