Josh Doctson??

Post by aswas71788 »

Does anyone see any value in Doctson? He has been mostly invisible in the first games and is now injured again. Even when he has been healthy, he hasn't contributed much. Hopefully, the Redskins will get rid of him at the end of the season.

Yea, I see all kinds of value in a 1st round pick who is always injured and can't catch when he's playing.

Could've been Will Fuller ... or Michael Thomas ...

Michael William Thomas Jr. is an American football wide receiver for the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for Ohio State University. Thomas holds the NFL record for the most receptions by a player through his first two seasons, with 196.

Michael Thomas would not have caught half that number of passes if he was playing with our offense his first 2 years
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

He helps spread the field... Hence more open targets when he is in vs last week when he was out. I like J Doc... He will likely move on from us and become Randy Moss.. Fml

With Crowder and PRich out we need to see JDoc win his match ups today. I like Harris, good hands... And Floyd who knows what he has left.. If JDoc can have early success and help these guys itd bode very well for his future here

Dude you totally made me look up the stat line to see that he had 4 catches for 40 yards. Man, the bar is low!!!

He did have a nice, tough catch down the middle. We definitely needed him yesterday so at least he chipped in.

You missed his point... he won almost every battle, which is what he is asked to do... but he was consistently overthrown. His stat line was, for once, not his fault.

Nope, I got his point and wasn't knocking Josh. Just kind of laughed when I looked at the actual numbers.

Just what I had thought until this game. I saw one catch, a vital angling-toward-the-middle catch, when Doctson's size appeared to cut through the Dallas defense.

Maybe there is hope?

The tough grab over the defender on the sideline was nice too... Had Alex been a little better at the end of the half, JDoc beat the coverage and could've had six or first and goal. He isnt targeted enough- but Alex seems a little gun shy too. Knowing he is the check down king, after last year i had hoped he prgressed into a conservative play maker who can sling it down field from time to time... Not much of that- hence Bibbs leading the stat line.

Btw- Ive been rooting for Bibbs all preseason, glad to see him make the most of his opportunities thus far!

Its frustrating at times, but he's also not turning the ball over. I saw some stat this morning about how opposing offenses were having to start the majority of drives deep on their own side of the field. That's a big help when our defense is playing well. Definitely saw that on Sunday.

They say that Gruden really likes him. It seems like every time he's had a chance to play, he's taken advantage of it.

John Keim agrees. Good observations this AM:
I want to mention a receiver who gets knocked quite a bit: Josh Doctson. He is not starting to dominate. He’s only averaging 9.9 yards per catch on the season. But he is coming through with some tough catches. Doctson does not create much separation for himself, but lately he’s caught the tough pass. He’s getting jammed at the line and not getting bumped off his route and that’s enabled Smith to get him the ball. There’s more trust developing there, at least on underneath routes. It helps. Those are the kinds of catches Pierre Garcon used to make. Not saying Doctson is now Garcon, but he’s making grabs in traffic I didn’t think he could a year ago.
