The Redskins will surprise a lot of folks this year. We will be NFC East champs at 11-5 or 12-4.

I like your optimism. I'm not as optimistic. The bye week is too early, even if this team is "for real."

No personal offense meant, but this is a garbage take.

The Saints signed AP to a two year $7m deal last year. His deal with the Redskins this year is one year $1m. He wasn't great last year for either the Saints or the Cardinals, and its insane to think we were one RB away from anything in 2017.

Dude is a 33 year old running back with a recent ACL injury. I hope he has a great year and plays like 25 year old AP all the way through the playoffs.

I can't believe Redskins fans of all people still haven't come to terms with the fact that you don't overpay for older players in this league.

There was an air of confidence that I have not seen in... over 25 years. Smith has composure that Cousins lacked.

If the team stays healthy, they will win 10 games.

The Redskins record since 1999 is less than 8 wins per season - make all the excuses you want about how well we manage the salary cap or what a bad job this or that coach did - the fact remains that this franchise has a terrible reputation for mis management and bad personnel decisions by Dan Snyder

maybe things will turn around soon but until then Dan Snyder deserves to be regarded as one of the worst owners in US sports

I would love the Redskins to do well this season .... but ....
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Sometimes you post stuff worth reading... Most of the time... You dont.
99? Seriously? You need to go back 20 years to justify a point? How was 98?
We've won the first opener since the magical RGiii season... And you still want to focus on the owner? 20 years ago? I cant man... I have blinders on, like a horse, and I cant keep seeing worthless cry baby posts... I don't want to block you- (a lot of the time ypur insight is legit and we see eye to eye) but hope you block ypurself from mentioning Snyder and the front office- for a week? Fml-god forbid a month?? A whole season???

I thought the Sports Junkies made a great point this morning: Alex Smith is 100x cooler than Kirk Cousins. :D

In theory I agree but he wasn't exactly under any pressure in week one. Let's see what happens when the game isn't quite so one-sided.

No, I think they meant strictly on a personal level. Alex Smith will never trademark a catchphrase and use it to hawk t-shirts.

Completely surpassed by the Colts today. Not a good game on any level, save for
some sparks by our defense. We did absolutely nothing on O.

Is Indianapolis really that good or are we that bad?

I'll go with the latter....Cardinals had 137 total yards and 5 first downs yesterday!! Last weeks win doesn't look so good right now!

FYI - the current owner bought the franchise in 1999 - that's why I used that year ... get real

those blinders must be really effective if they make you feel that this Redskins team is going to be able to win more than 7 games

I am sick and tired of hoping we'll be better next year and knowing that just ain't happening

btw - we won 6 games in '98 - might be a realistic goal for this season too

I understood why you chose the year man... Duh

Yeah we lost. Blame Snyder if it makes you feel better- I prefer to blame Gruden who called a trash game.Oh butSnyder hired him instead of giving the job to Mcvay!

This roster is better then we saw on Sunday. Lets see how we battle GB

Ol Kirk was in form with a would be game ending pick called back for a bogus flag on mathews. That was funny

I don't blame Snyder for the mistakes made on the field each week by players or coaches

Dan Snyder is responsible for not bringing in people to manage and run this franchise like most other franchises - Dan should have learned that it's not just a matter of having a good coach and adding good players - the better managed franchises have owners that hire people to run and manage the franchise - this roster is greatly improved but while Jay Gruden may be a good OC, IMO, he's certainly not a good HC

In New England they refer to the way they manage things as "the Patriot way" - the Redskins franchise as owned and managed by Dan Snyder has zero credibility - in fact, I'm not sure there are a lot of good coaches or front office people that would want to work for this idiot owner

it is what it is - we are hopeful but the reality is that this franchise is mediocre at best and always seems to be looking to next season
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance

I dont think Gruden is a good OC.. He has good plays and schemes no doubt- but I think if he passed me the playbook wed have better results. If he had a McVay calling plays and was left to actually just be a HC, hed probably be better in that role then his current one too.

I think that Jay Gruden is like a lot of coaches - just because they are good co-ordinators does not mean that they will be good as head coaches

When Snyder wanted to get rid of Shanahan he had to deal with the reality that no good NFL head coaches would want to come here

I'm never giving up my hope that things will turn around here but ... it's going to take time

Psyched. Still on pace for my win by quarters of the season breakdown. We'll be at least 2-2 in Q1.
I always argue for breaking the season into four quarters so you don't get too hung up on a loss or two each week. We'll win a game we don't expect to, and we'll lose one that we shouldn't. Here's my optimistic W/L for the season:

Q1: Cards, Colts, Packers, Saints
2-2

Q2: Panthers, Pukes, Ginas, Falcons
2-2
Saints were beastly yesterday vs. the Falcons. I'm not too optimistic about that game. Nice to get them after the BYE week though.

NFC South is just nasty this year. Going to be hard to get a win against that division.
