Samuels Expects to Be Ready For Opener By Gary Fitzgerald Redskins.com August 30, 2004
Left tackle Chris Samuels said Monday that he expects his sprained right ankle to be healed by the start of the regular season.
"I'll be ready to go [for the season opener]," he said. "I'm just letting my body heal up. I'm anxious to get out there and play."
Samuels suffered the injury during last Friday's St. Louis Rams game when he was pushed back into a pile up and Rock Cartwright fell onto his ankle.
Samuels, who watched Monday afternoon's practice from the sidelines, has been wearing a protective boot on his foot since the injury. He expects to remove the boot on Tuesday.
His status for Friday's preseason finale will be announced later this week.
"In a couple of days, [team doctors] seem to think he'll be okay," head coach Joe Gibbs said. "He's feeling better, so we'll see what happens."
Linebacker LaVar Arrington and cornerback Walt Harris participated in Monday's practice. Arrington has been nursing a sprained knee and Harris has had a calf injury.
Middle linebacker Mike Barrow continued to rest his knee tendinitis and sat out practice.
So no Barrow again. Darn it! I wanted to really see him in there at least for a few plays.
And does that mean Lavar plays or will they not take the chance of injury with him?
Whenever I start to get blue, I just breathe!
My favortie line from the Simpsons:
Flanders: "Looks like someone is having a pre-rapture party!"
Homer: "No Flanders, it's a meeting of gay witches for abortion , you wouldn't be interested!"
