Assistant Strength and Conditioning coach for the Skins. Yes he is Jon Gruden II, son of Jon Gruden, nephew of Jay. There's a video of him on the Skins webpage doing tricep pull down extensions.

Being from west coast Socal, I don't discover these things unless I'm digging for info. On the vid when the head strength coach said Deuce Gruden......I thought hmmm must be related?
Carry on......

Meet Deuce Gruden...
Proverbs 27:17 As iron sharpens iron,
so one person sharpens another.
so one person sharpens another.
Re: Meet Deuce Gruden...
AND ... he's been with the team for almost a year now ...
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Yeah ok.......... when you're on the Left Coast, you don't get all the details.SkinsJock wrote:AND ... he's been with the team for almost a year now ...
We see players, FO, HC, DC, etc..... but not so much the "lesser" guys. But this is how you work up the ranks. If his Football IQ is like his dad, then he may become a position coach, etc.............and work up the ranks.
I learned something.

Re: Meet Deuce Gruden...
He looks fit no doubt.
But since this defense has performed so poorly.
I question the effectivenise of the training program and the participation of the players.
I know Scherff is a workout warrior. He already was coming out of Iowa.
I've seen videos of Josh Norman curling 25 lb dumbbells. Not impressive in the least.
I've never seen videos of squats, deadlifts or power cleans. Not even a bench press from a player while in a Redskins uniform. I know for a fact Scherff and Kerrigan do just because I can tell by the physique they have. I do think our team trains.
However I do not believe most are doing the most effective training possible.
Every lineman both Dline and Oline should squat at least 600lbs. Roughly double bodyweight of a 300lb man. Squat 600lbs, dead lift 700 lbs and bench 500lbs should be attainable for a 300 lb lineman.
Basically each player at any position should be able to do double their body weight on a squat about 1.5 in a dead lift. I know for a fact Scherff already has surpassed that coming out of college.
I would say the squat is the most important lift for a football player then dead lift and bench. If possible throw in more advanced lifts like a power clean but it's not imperative. So long as they max out on squats, deadlifts and I prefer a dumbbell press.
Anybody who squats on a regular basis can tell you the benefits and explosiveness you gain from the exercise.

I know it's part of the NFL culture, but I really dislike nepotism.
We saw it already with the Marty family.
Messes up the organizational barriers you're supposed to keep.

It goes on in literally every industry in the US. I see it all over the place. I don't like it either, but its not just in the NFL, its all over.El Mexican wrote:I know it's part of the NFL culture, but I really dislike nepotism.
