Yeah, this is awesome. I'm so glad he fell into our lap. Not only is he one of the best in the draft, but we needed something like this too.

Allen is a top 5 pick - we are V fortunate
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Amazing that Jonathan Allen could slide to our pick. Very happy that he did. Great, great pick for this team. A need position and a spectacular player with great character. Couldn't be happier.

On another note, doesn't matter which year it is, both networks covering the draft go to long commercial breaks whenever it's time to talk about our Skins. Doesn't matter the year or round. Bank on it happening.

Ok now for the second round.
A couple different ways we could go.

Some good talent on the board. Top talent at Rb,lb,S and Dl. We could even grab a guard.

Safeties left Budda Baker, Josh Jones, Marcus Williams and Obi Melifonwu.

Rbs left Joe Mixon, Alvin Kamara and Donta Foreman.

DL. Caleb Brantley, Malik McDowell, Montravious Adams, Chris Wormley and the guy from Clemson.

LBs like Zach Cunningham and Raekwon McMillan.

If Lamp is there I grab him, but he won't be. I always like doubling up when you have a major area of need. I would love to grab Wormley or Adams. Also if Baker or Melifonwu are there I wouldn't mind them. If we go LB I prefer McMillan over Cunningham.

Has any reporter ever been more unreliable than Ian Rappoport? Good grief. He's like THE go to guy when teams want to dump nonsense.

Love this pick btw. I listed five guys yesterday that I was hoping might fall to the Skins, had no expectations at all that Jonathan Allen would be available.

Day one starter. One of the top two or three players in college football last year. Zero character issues. I like that it was a complete no brainer pick, and the team did the right thing.

ABSOLUTELY - this kid is a top 5 player in this draft - great job by the Redskins

AND not trading Cousins was also HUGE

I know you're outside the DC radio area, they've been playing a radio interview with him this morning. Comes across as a real quality young guy. I have a feeling fans are going to like this player.

I'm still mad as hell at Dan & Bruce but as you posted, this was a no brainer and they really nailed it

just going to hope they continue to show some sense for the rest of this

we're not going to solve all our issues with 1 draft but we can sure continue to make this roster better

I called into the Sports Junkies this morning. Surprised how easily and quickly I got on the air. Pretty cool. Wish I'd DVR'd it to show my son when he gets home from school.

So many quality players we could draft in the 2nd. LB, DL, OG, S, CB, RB. Plenty of opportunities. Wouldn't it be funny if we selected Chris Wormley and he ended up having a better career than Taco Charlton, who was picked by the Cowboys? How about Raekwon McMillan at LB? Or Zach Cunningham? I'd be very happy with Marcus Williams at Safety but feel he might be available in the third. So many opportunities....

It's now been made V clear by both the Browns & the Redskins that neither franchise spoke about a possible Cousins trade during the draft

Wormley or McDowell in the second. Could be very possible. Teams went for QBs and WRs so early last night, really left some talent on defense available.

C00ley was lobbying HARD this morning for Tim Williams, OLB from Alabama in the second round. I know nothing about these guys, but he did get me hyped up about it. Drafting two Alabama guys in the first two rounds to immediately improve our defense and pass rush? Yeah, I'd probably buy into that. :D

Btw he also claims that the Skins tried hard to move up at the end of the first round to get Reuben Foster, but San Fran made the better trade offer. Can you imagine if they'd pulled that off??? WOW.

Maybe better in the long run that it didn't happen but still would have been pretty exciting.

It will be interesting to see who is left after 17 additional picks. Some of the obvious choices are McDowell, Cunningham, Lamp, Tim Williams, King, Cook, Robinson, Baker, Wormely, Brantley --- but will any of them be available at 49..... If it were me, I'd have my eyes on RB Foreman (Texas). He may go late in the 2nd, early 3rd, so in order to lock him up, they'd need to take him at 49. That being said, there are perhaps 2 RBs that will go ahead of him, so it would depend on where those 2 were taken. Foreman can't pass block for sh!t, but he can run that ball.
RIP Sean Taylor. You will be missed.

I'm not sure we go DL with 2nd round pick...we'll keep max 7, maybe 6 DL.

Would love Cunningham, Cook, or best FS available.

With the 49th pick, #Redskins select Alabama LB Ryan Anderson.

RYAN ANDERSON - I can't believe it - I posted yesterday that I wanted this guy - this guy will become a defensive leader

unfortunately, coming from me that's like "the kiss of death"

Had a chance to get Obi.
I am not dissapointed. I do like the pick. He'll gel well with Allen. He's a big linebacker who is strong really good at stuffing the run.

Here's some positives. I think it's too late to get a starter FS maybe. But if we can come away with a starting NT, Ilb and maybe a guard it will be a good draft.

If next year's defense becomes good against the run it should improve the defense to mid tier.

Perhaps... on the other hand, the time the opposing qb has to scan the field just got shorter... nothing shores up a question mark in the defensive back field like front seven pressure.

Yes it fits the theme of improve the defense. Which is what I wanted from this draft.

I would like to see a NT some time either next pick or in the 4th.
