Terell McClain played well last season.
Was also part of the top run defense last year. Opponents averaged 83 yards per last season.

I do suspect that Scott had a list of free agent targets for the team. McClain being one target.

He's just average. Wouldn't say he is good and I say that because he probably was there worse lineman. We definitely needed him. I think he will play more disciplined as far as stopping the run compared to Ricky Jean Francois...but have less a burst and ability to get after the qb as RJF. Gotta keep in mind that he played in a 4-3 and going to 3-4 so there may be an adjustment. Interesting what our new D coordinator ask of our 3-4 dlineman. Hold blocks so lb can penetrate primarily or shoot gaps. Haslett was a big hold blocks for our OLB/ILB guy.

Actually, I had an eye on him the whole time he started thinking he was Rolando McClain... he plays with the fierceness you want to see up front.... and his role isn't a sack machine, he creates enough havoc that people like Kerrigan Murphy and Smith will get the improved stat lines.

Ok so what you are saying a larger amount of tackles equate as the better player? There are alot of variables that go into this stat like number of snaps, injuries, etc. Great to have but most great dlineman don't have hefty numbers and at times do not lead their crew in tackles. I didn't have to really look at the tackles nor sacks I just know from watching plenty of football that he's not more of an impact player consistently than the other players they have. Crawfords their stud and they like their young end Maliek Collins alot.

Should be a solid piece to compliment a future stud that we obtain. He's rated below past Cowboys that we have picked up Jason Hatcher, Stephen Bowen so that should put him in perspective.
