Patrick Ramsey is NOT our Future
You guys keep on saying "PRam is our future." If he is our future, we are doomed. He has NO self-confidence, none at all. I don't think he has the ability to become a great NFL starting quarterback. He is okay for a backup, but starting: I don't think he will ever start on our team because of his QB skill. The only reason he may start is because of injuries to Brunell.
I know it is pretty harsh on the kid, but I really belive this is reality. That's it, I've said it. Prove me wrong in the future!

Seems to me Ramsey will get his confidence back in time. He isn't going to start for at least a year maybe two, barring injury. During that time, Coach Breaux will work with him, and he will see the Dirtbags protection and he will learn from Brunell and by the time we look to him as the starter he will be ready to go.
RIP 21

I don't get too upset about too much that is talked about on the boards because it is all talk for debate. But your lack of faith in the kid, lack of trust in THE head coach and the team in general, really perturbs me!! I, as well as most of us here, would have to agree that Ramsey has not had the kind of preseason that anybody(especially P-Ram)would have hoped for. But to completely abandon what IS our future, shows me you do not believe Gibbs has an eye for QB's. Well believe it... Gibbs knows QB's!!!!

I figure... If life is all about the choices you make... Then I choose Redskin football, beer and hot wings!!
This is old news, HatsOff is always down on the Skins. Pessimist? Read some old posts...maybe one day HatsOff will "believe"...

Hail to the Redskins!
Wow I am also very disappointed to read this from a Redskins fan. Last year this kid took a beating to try to win games for us. Now you are saying he has no talent. I have never heard anyone with knowledge of the game or QB's in general say he has no potential. Everyone seems to agree that he is gun shy. And if you were sacked that many times you may need a little recovery time as well. Give him a chance would ya?? He IS our future. And when that kid is wearing a SuperBowl ring on his finger from our franchise you will feel a bit silly doubting him!

Whenever I start to get blue, I just breathe!

Yes...calling someone Collinsworth...that's below the belt.
Hatsoff, give em time. He just needs to get his accuracy/confidence back. When Ramsey is on he is ON. (had a nice pass to jacobs who then gave it up) He just got a bit beat up last year. Gibbs saw it early and knew he'd need time, which is why he brought in Brunell (a move I disagreed with at first). Which is why I take my hat off to Gibbs...pardon me, couldn't resist. (We need a kneeslapping emoticon...)

She turned me into a newt! ...I got better.
Yes, Ramsey's confidence is low. Why? We all know that answer...Steve Spurrier's not ready for prime time offense. If you watched Ramsey on Friday night, you saw him make the tough throws but miss the easy ones. That is correctable. The kid is very smart, has a cannon for an arm and will have a real shot at making a name for himself. This year? Probably not. Look how long it took for Theismann and others to get their day in the sun. Patience is required here. Gibbs knows that, that's why he brought in Brunell.

Alright you guys found out my philosophy, don't be over-excited that we have the best coaching staff BECAUSE we do not have the best players. Are you telling me that Patrick Ramsey has a chance to become like Peyton Manning, McNabb, Favre and other great quarterbacks? I am in no way blaming anyting at all on the coaches. Do I believe in them? Of course I do! BUT I just cannot believe how Patrick can be one of the elite quarterbacks in the league. And for a team to succeed, you HAVE TO HAVE A GREAT QUARTERBACK. We need a LEADER on the team, and right now it is not Patrick Ramsey.

You're right, it is not Patrick Ramsey at the moment...it is a guy named Mark Brunell. Ramsey has only played 16 games and football gurus all over the country agree that he is talented and will be a star. Why rush him? Brett Favre was TRADED cause the Falcons didn't think he'd fit...now look.
CHAD PENNINGTON rode the bench for 2-3 years behind Vinny..and became one of the highest rated QB's in 2002 and should have a huge year this season.
I hope that Sean Talyor tackles you to the ground, then rips off your mask and reveals.......................................................................

Woops! You must have been born after 1992. Joe Gibss wins with good QBs not great QBs. Great coaches win beacuse they are great coaches; not because they have all pro players. At this level the players are all very good. A great coach (i.e. Joe Gibbs) just knows has to get them to win.

Anyone who thinks it is a necessary to have a GREAT quarterback to succeed in the NFL has no clue what he is talking aabout. I understand if he wants to in some way keep his expectations low, that way any success will be taken with greater happiness.
p.s Why is it pesscimist always want you to proove them wrong?

Everyone's slamming hatsof2gibbs, and I'm not agreeing with everything he says, but this team needs Brunell to succeed imo. Patrick, even when "good" is only completing barely over 50%? That's always been my issue with him, he's tough, smart, etc...but he has to get that completion % in the high 50's minimum. Even in good games, he seems to miss a ton of open receivers with no pressure? Fumbles alot too? Sure, they all do when they're young, but I really focus on that comp %. It's not that great at all and that equals a lot of chains not moving downfield. After awhile we all know the team feels it, the line feels it, and a sense of pessism begins to spread. Brunells at 60% for his career.
Bottom line, PRam has to start getting rid of ball sooner and making the throws.
and I am taking into account the beatings he took.
