Turning a Corner - POLL

Talk about the Washington Football Team here. Do you bleed burgundy and gold?

How Much Will You Invest?

Everything - as usual. I will go to several games, buy gear, and live and die emotionally with every game.

A lot but mostly emotionally. No attendance at any games and no gear.

Not much. I'll watch some of the games on TV but never like before where I'm pausing, analyzing, living, and dying. No gear for sure.

Very little. I'll make note of who wins each week and will visit THN on occasion.

I'm done. Eff Snyder.

Turning a Corner - POLL

Post by DarthMonk »

I had hoped Dan Snyder was turning a corner when he hired Scot. Our roster got so much better so quickly even with several misses. We got the right QB playing. We were looking forward to drafts like never before. We had things go terribly wrong yet went 8-7-1 which we actually found disappointing. That's the kind of fan I wanted to be.

Instead, I think I am turning a corner.

How much will you invest in the team moving forward?

I've been done spending money on this franchise since 1999, when Dan Snyder weaseled the franchise out from under the Cooke family. The first thing Snyder did as team owner was completely stupid. It was a harbinger of things to come.

I still follow the team, obviously, but I quit living and dying with them almost twenty years ago. Get crapped on enough and eventually you start to believe the team owner thinks you're about as valuable as a toilet.

I will stay with the team, watch every game, go to a few (some great away destinations this year definitely KC!) and hope we play a competitive game in December!! (I’m never emotional…it’s a game)

It's just a passing interest now. Too many years of false hope followed by incompetence, ending with blowing up and starting over.

Snyder refuses to do the right thing and turn team management over to a competent professional, no matter how bad the team is doing. He isn't going to change; the clay is dry at this point. Unfortunately, he's still fairly young so he won't die and leave the team with a new owner anytime soon. I'm cutting my losses and playing video games on Sunday afternoons instead.

Maybe I'll share my xbox and steam tags if enough here are in the same boat. 8)

I'm still living the glory days of the 80/90s. The team I fell in love with. A winning franchise with tradition and honor. 25 yrs after our last SB win, everything has been dreadfull. Since the Snyder era it has gotten from bad worse and we are far from rock bottom. He is a business man and all the hoopla happens in the offseason, when we get hooked with high emotions and expectations that a few weeks into the season turn into severe heartache and disapointments... Drafts, mega trades, free agent busts, coaching carrousel Cincluding an assistant coach hired before the head coach that later turned into head coach, Gibbs return, one that went golfing and never came back) Vinny Cerrato, QBs of the future and rebuilding years have come and go and the one thing in the equation that remains the same is: THE OWNER.

We as fans are still trying to get Joe Jabcoby in the HOF and that got me wondering, has there been a player picked by the Skins since 1995, that deserves a HOF induction in the next 5 or 10 yrs?

I can still remember the complete line up of the 80/90s team, but can not name 10 players from last years team. My last favorite player of the last 15 yrs was Cooley... He's been gonne 3 or 4 yrs right? When I think of buying a jersey, Riggo, Butz, Jacoby, Dexter, Monk, Darrell, are the names that come to mind, at the end, I buy nothing.

Just sad...

Really? That's exactly why I get emotional. Not when I'm washing dishes. That's a mundane chore.

You don't smile after good plays and get bummed over mistakes? Wow.

Good for you, bro.

I'm backing off but it would be very tough for even this owner to completely alienate me.

I'll support them just like in the years past, all the drama is just part of the BS that's been going on since Jack Kent Cook passed away. Would I go to games and buy gear if we started winning games, not likely. This is as far as I am willing to go.

Snyder has improved a little.

The old Snyder would have fired the whole coaching staff. I am still angry about the Scott firing but fact remains
Kirk is still the QB for at least one more season.
Allen did sign two Dts one solid saftey in Swearinger and Pryor who will help replace the production from losing Garcon and Jackson.

In years past it was far worse. We would have signed an old Bruce Smith or Deion Sanders on his last legs. It can get worse far worse.

Swinging gate anyone?

it can get worse and it most likely will - these 2 bozos have actually learned from their mistakes and will continue to make even bigger ones
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Sure it can. But so far the ship has not sunk.
At least wait for free agency and the draft.

We will know for sure what direction we are headed.

But for right now the team has a chance to convince Kirk to stay on a LTD.

I'm backing off a bit. Will watch the games on TV as usual but won't go to any games, and I won't be very disappointed if we don't do well.

I'll keep watching every game on TV will hope the team come over to the UK to see them again.
I'll look for news multiple times a day.
And all that time I'll have no faith that we're being run in any way that will result in positive performances or emotions. I expect to be frustrated at best and to question my loyalty consistently.

not sure how I can ever believe that Dan Snyder and Bruce Allen are not a part of the decision making but I'll be looking forward to it

In it to win it like every year... nothing's changed for me.. for those who left town, BYE FELICIA!!

The fans who are giving up, Scotty McDrunk, Garcon, Djack, kinda miss Bakers enthusiasm, but still- DUECES!!

This is my squad, for better or worse, all day era day... the sky is always falling in DC, and a lot of fans are clueless. Our team is already BETTER on paper then last year, where dullass is taking a step back, and despite signing ol Marshal, the vaginas STILL have Sheli throwing to the wrong team... I think we are primed for a decent year... and the early rankings actually agree!

Looking forward to the draft and maybe a little more help through free agency... it'll be alright guys, put the gun down!

I like your optimism, but I can't see the positive side of both our OC and DC leaving.

(Yeah, our old DC was not brilliant, but players always take time to adapt to different styles and system changes)

That alone should be enough to take things slowly.

I will never be able to walk away.. This is still a team I wake up for at 0230 in the morning to watch in prime time here in Italy.. despite being severely disappointed each time I do and swearing I won't do it the next.. I will say this is the first year Im not so readily drinking the kool-aid and I don't trust anything that comes from any of the beat writers these days.. call it fake news syndrome but I TRULY believe Bruce Allen and Co. are pumping out false narratives and stories to take the heat off them.. I give Bruce credit for trying to revive the tradition and legacy of the Skins teams and greats of the past but thats ALL he has been good for.. Until Bruce leaves and Dan doesn't hire a Vinny/Bruce clone, this team will always be stuck in the mud and I will always be stuck right there with them.
