We need to join Cousins, no more fan support until Allen is GONE.

Bruce Allen is not THE problem - THE problem is that this franchise has nobody in charge that has any idea of what it takes to be successful

Dan Snyder is not THE problem, he's just an owner that refuses to learn what it takes to be a responsible owner of a sports franchise

Kirk Cousins will not make this offense any better - this franchise needs people in charge that know how to coach and play in the NFL

No NFL franchise in the last 40 years has let two 1,000 yard WR's go after a very successful season, offensively - NONE

I cannot imagine that too many coaches or players are looking forward to playing here right now
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Very well said I agree. I think Snyder realized he needed help back in the Shannahan and Allen era and did the right thing. He's just not hiring the right people for stability.

Bruce Allen is only here because Shanahan wanted Snyder to show that he would let football people run things and Mike thought that he could control Bruce - a year later Dan Snyder got Mike Shanahan and then when Shanahan wouldn't do what he wanted he let him go

Dan Snyder's not going anywhere and it seems that as soon as anyone (Marty Schottenheimer; Mike Shanahan; Scot McCloughan) starts getting this franchise headed in the right direction, without Dan getting the credit, that person is gone
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance

If Cousins wants to start a war with the front office then I say ship his ass out. Yeah it sucks and we need a QB but rather cash out on trading him then letting him walk next year. That's of course if he truly refusing to work with Allen.

I call bull shot! Why the heck would Kirk make waves like this if he were indeed looking to play elsewhere?
Even if he truly feels this way, saying it out loud is beyond foolish. Why bring any type of "controversy" to the negotiating table.. he should paint an image of loyalty, easy to work with, humble, hard working etc etc...

I am not the biggest Kirk fan but after hearing this I am more on his side.
Good for Kirk. I am sure many of us supported Scott. Kirk seems to be pro Scott as well.

I was contemplating just tuning football out this year after Scott being fired. However I think we should just wait and see.
If Kirk manages to get Allen fired and get Mike Mayock or a legit GM that would be tremendous.

so... an anonymous "source" says that Cousins, whom is NOTORIOUS for his carefully measured statements, says this, and it's taken as gospel??? smh
It's not that I don't think it's possible... It's that a single, unconfirmed anonymous source is simply crap reporting...

+1 - this does not sound like something that Cousins would say at all

I'm sure that many of the players are not 'happy' with what is going on but they are also aware that this is a business and they don't make statements like this - I'm sure that Cousins wants out but he understands how it all works as well as anyone

If anything... it seemed as if Kirk had a bone with SCOTT!

YOU LIKE THAT?!

HOW YOU LIKE ME NOW??

Never saw Kirk point up to the box where Allen is... I think Scott wasn't sold on Kirk.. and really believe it was him not wanting to long term deal him from the beginning. Hell, Snyder allowed his cash cow RGiii to be shipped out of town in favor of Kirk... it doesn't add up, and most Skins fans refuse to read between the lines, and insist on blaming every bad since the Titanic on Danny boy. Scott the drunk of course, can do no wrong? LMFAO

I argued with the Hogs Haven guy on Facebook about this very thing. It doesn't make any sense to me to claim Scot to be Kirk's champion when Cousins yelled "How you like me now?!?" in his face while rubbing his head. It was demeaning. It wasn't exuberance after a big win. None of that adds up. I suspect a lot of people will be proven wrong after all this yet the story told by the talking heads on ESPN will be different.

so you guys think that both Dan Snyder and Bruce Allen (or even just Bruce) might have wanted Scot to sign Cousins to a long term deal?

really? I'll grant you that Scot might not have been all that good at his job here, but if nothing else, his presence at Redskins Park (even drunk, if that was the case) made some of us think that there was a chance that Bruce & Dan were not making ANY of the coaching or player decisions because as anyone with any sense knows, these 2 bozos do not have any sense at all when it comes to NFL players & coaches

one last question - would either of you believe either one of these bozos, if they told you the time of day? even, day or night?

Did someone miss the part where Scot McCloughan wanted to sign Kirk Cousins to a long term deal two years ago? It sure seems that way.

At this point who really knows. We have just as many articles that he did say it, as the articles saying he didn't. The issue is simply this, we already offered a LTD with 20 million a year and he turned it down. Do we offer the 24 to 26 million it will take to sign him, or the team allows him to leave next year and we get a compensatory 3rd round pick as he moves to San Francisco? We must ask ourselves is Dan and Bruce so retarded that they gave away so much for RGIII but after 2 plus seasons simply don't think Cousins is worth all that? If so then why pay him 24 million for this year? I mean he has made over 40 million in 2 years........What makes sense?

Its just impossible to know what to believe right now, and I wouldn't trust anything. I kind of agree with you, BGF, that I found this story about SM kind of hard to believe. On the other hand, the current offer from the Redskins for Cousins is basically insulting and a complete non-starter. Bruce & Dan could whip up a legit, starting QB deal for Cousins in a matter of hours if they wanted. Scot is gone and can't be blamed for that.

I'll just remind everyone like a week ago Ian Rapoport reported on Monday that the Redskins would DEFINITELY look to sign Cousins to a long term deal. Three days later he reported that the team would trade Cousins to the 49ers in a deal involving Tony Romo.

My guess is that its all going to be nonsense until after the draft. The team will take stock and decide what direction they need to go. Anyone think they might take a QB fairly high, play Cousins one more year on the tag and then move on?

What sense does it make to pay Cousins 24 million to let him walk? But then again we are talking about Snyder and Allen so who knows.... 8-[

If they don't want to pay to keep him long term, I guess the logic would be you could at least have a shot at a decent 2017 season with Cousins for one more year while you groom a rookie QB. That wouldn't be my preference, but its not the worst scenario either. Worst case IMO would be to draft a guy and try to start him this fall.

I think a big step back, 4-12 season this year would be a huge blow to this franchise given everything that has occurred the past few weeks. It would be well worth $24m to prevent that from happening. Disagree?

I don't think that Cousins or his advisors have implied or said anything other than they would like to sign a long term deal and if that's not going to happen, they'd like to get a trade worked out - I don't think that anyone really wants Cousins to stay for a year and be gone

then again, the bozos are in charge and lies and false or misleading statements are the status quo

Cousins would be a huge help at QB ... but
I don't disagree with this but with these 2 back in charge, the 'logic' is not there ...

I just don't see this franchise being very good with ZERO leadership & having no accountability
