Dysfunction acting like the sky is falling

Post by EA7649 »

There has been so much going on this off-season. It's disturbing and sadly predictable. There are so many seperate posts covering different problems. So to cover a general outlook I made a different post.

First and formost probably the most important cause to this mess is Kirk's contract last year (Although we had the gamble with rg3 and salty feelings. But hopefully we moved on enough from it). They took the cautious approach with Kirk, not spending more money than needed, since there was a small sample size of Kirk's play. Which is completely understandable, you just have to be prepared for the possible situations to come. Now they are paying the price for it. Reportably they broke such a repport with Kirk's camp he doesn't want to be here. I don't blame him not wanting to be part of a dysfunctional organization. This was a recent part of a domino effect with ego and differences on how to run the team.

Latest brief info on Scot http://www.rotoworld.com/player/NFL/10305 In the beginning I didn't want to believe all of this mess, maybe there are bigger problems behing the scene. Also Gruden extension and lies about possible trades etc. to get the focus off the problems? Really? I'm going to try and make this general and stay on topic. But don't stoop that low and follow strategies from others...It just makes the problems BIGGER when it all blows up!

Lets be serious, what good free-agents want to join this mess?

Lastly, enough with this if so and so is gone, I'm done with this team! When you decided to be a Redskins fan you know the record of the past 2 decades and what you are getting into. You're letting emotions get the best of you. You take the falls when things go wrong and when things go up you get the self high.

Hey, nice post. But I can't agree on this point. Everyone with two eyes noted

that Cousins was clearly a better QB since RGIII went down vs. Baltimore in his rookie season.

He had better fundamentals, made better decisions and tended to handle pressure better.

Sadly, politics intervened and RGIII stablished himself as the starter. Yet, Cousins was pivotal during his absence.

Clearly, the man was never the first choice Snyder and Co. and now he wants to get payed big time, having us over a barrel.

Agreed.

I'll still watch them and continue to laugh at the hilarity on the field.

Fine. If Dan Snyder is around I'm done with this team. I can't take any more of this idiot.

This is honestly worse than even the Cerrato years. What they did two years ago was bring hope...in that they hired a legit, top-notch GM and basically told us he was running the show.

And now look where we are. It's awful. And it's going to get worse.

No hope.

Precisely. No respectable football person would touch this franchise with a cherry picker.

Is there anyone that really thinks or hopes that Kirk Cousins will play QB for the Redskins this season?

why would he want to do that and why would we let him stay for a year and then be gone?
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Thanks there is so much going on its getting ridiculous! The amount of money Kirk wanted was more than the team was willing to give, unless he provedhe could do it consistantly. Its not about rg3. Its about how much money they were willing to give and if they believed in someone that. Last year a lot of reporteres agreed with the decision to franchise Kirk. Just have to have a clear plan the next year (which we didn't. So it back fired)

I appreciate what you're saying, but that's completely false. I'm willing to bet most of us here have been fans of the team long before the past 2 decades and the Snyder era specifically. I'd say putting up with this garbage year after after - when we know what its like to have a well run organization - we are well within our rights to be pissed off and tired of it.

Again, its not about if "so and so is gone". Its about nonstop, continued dysfunction that never seems to change. Good teams and organizations do no operate this way.

I completely understand. I've been a fan for more than 10 years, but I wasn't a fan during the 90's during the good old days. Yes its dissappointing the way the team is heading. It can be tough staying loyal to a team when the organization has been heading south. But the poor management isn't new news.

this is just so discouraging - to see a glimmer of hope and then to have it taken away is just gut wrenching

I know that as fans we want it to be a certain way and we kind of don't like seeing what is happening or refuse to acknowledge it

but to have this idiot continually make decisions that hurt the franchise is just stupid

I was under no illusions that we were going to be a lot better this coming season, with or without Cousins, but I did think that we were on the right path to respectability and that Snyder was going to let these guys continue to rebuild this roster - and now this

Here's what is (or was) new: poor management seemed to decide to get out of management for the first time in 15 years and brought in competent personnel instead. We all held our breath to see whether it would last. It didn't, and that (to me) feels like a new low.

=D> Agree. In no way, am I encouraged how this team is going. Take two steps forward and fall back 4 steps.

Edit- Same goes to the comment from Irn-Bru

Great article! Answers my thought sbout a good free agent signing with a dysfunctional organization.
"Stability counts," said one agent. "We have to work with these people. It’s a relationship game. But is it a deal-breaker? No. But those are factors."

No you're absolutely right about that. And we - old fans and newer - repeatedly get suckered into thinking they've finally learned from their mistakes. I'm just really tired of it.

I swear this last off season was one of the best I can remember, because it was so boring and so drama free. Not sure why it always has to be this circus here.

Exactly. How does the team build on back-to-back winning seasons? By crapping the bed!

Red Dead Redemption 2 comes out in the fall. Perfect timing for me.

The sad thing is... They brought him in but didn't really give him full control. The one TRUE FOOTBALL MIND was brought in and then handcuffed. Now they're gonna run/allow a smear campaign against the guy, like they do every time they're trying to get rid of personnel.

I'm sure he'll land elsewhere and have great success.

Dan Snyder can't keep his hands out of the cookie jar. I'm not sure why we expected any differently.

I want him dead. Or at least dead to me.

We had the answer and Allen/Snyder choked it to death. ;furious;

I don't even like dividing the responsibility. This is purely on Snyder. He uses different people to mask his actions, Bruce is just the newest. I don't want there to be any confusion on who is at fault, it's Snyder 110%.

The line about the Cerrato years is a good one. Pretty funny.
