Gruden signed to 2 year extension....

Talk about the Washington Football Team here. Do you bleed burgundy and gold?

I'll say one thing about that. Obviously I'm one who thinks they should sign Cousins, but I think this Gruden extension gives them more flexibility now.

If the team decides that they can't meet Cousins' price, I think Gruden is in better position to go a different route. A scenario like starting McCoy for a year while grooming a young QB is more realistic with some job security for the head coach. Would you agree?

My initial reaction on this is that the extension is a good move and sets a tone for resigning Cousins. With the next 4 years guaranteed in front of Gruden, it tells Cousins that he will know what to expect if he resigns long term.

It also makes me believe that the Cousins camp has some real questions with respect to continuity here under Danny boy ---- which are very warranted.

Personally, I am skeptical about anything our FO does --- especially with the absence of Scot --- but I thought this was a good step. We'll see though....
RIP Sean Taylor. You will be missed.

I do agree but I should clarify my post - it is very important to get Cousins signed to a long term deal ...
hopefully we also resolve this FO mess, so that the players and coaches clearly understand that Dan Snyder is not interfering again

IF the FO mess is cleared up, there will be no problem signing Cousins to a long term deal because everyone with any sense knows that is the key deal for the Redskins moving forward - the money is NOT the issue here - the problem is that the FO needs to get back on track and continue the building that Scot started AND ensure that it's very clear to all that Dan Snyder is NOT involved - with or without Scot being here

Jay Gruden's future as HC here is NOT guaranteed - it's good that he's getting an extension, but it means very little if he does not do well
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I'm not a Jay Gruden fan but I do think it's a good sign that he's been given an extension - can you imagine anyone wanting to be the HC here if Scot is being pushed out of the GM spot? - it really means little though, if this FO is not under proper leadership

IF Dan Snyder and Bruce Allen are back in charge here - Cousins is unlikely to sign a long term deal (who could blame him!) and these guys will go back to drafting for need and trying to buy a SB trophy

Fat Gruden doesn't have the talent to make it an additional 2 years. It was a throw away signing to show the organization is stable.

Captain Pick is not a SB caliber QB that can take a team to a SB. But if you want to be an 8-8 team or a 9-7 team forever he is a good option. Jay Gruden will never be a good coach. Sean McVay was the reason we were just average. Now with him gone, Fattie Gruden will show what a trainwreck he is

I'm so tired of people writing such demonstrable bulls***. Its like they think if they put it out on the Internet enough times it will make it true.
