We are actually looking at an off-season where this team loses its GM, OC, DC, QB, 2 WR’s and more …on the bright side I’ll be able to get tickets for $10!Burgundy&GoldForever wrote:Not a chance. I am not sure about anyone else but to me I have not seen one interview or read any direct comment from Cousins or his agent saying anything about him wanting to be here. I have heard nothing but non committal responses about how it's up to the front office. I mean in some regard yes it is up to the front office but it's also up to Cousins and his agent. What's wrong with Cousins coming out saying he enjoys it here and wants to finish what he started? Or how about yes I want to be a Redskin? At this juncture I think they are going to trade Cousins and let Garcon, and Jackson walk. It doesn't make any sense to pay a QB 24 million for 1 year and not have legitimate receivers to throw too. Reed and Davis and Crowder won't be scaring anyone without legitimate receivers and Doctson hasn't proven anything and personally think that SM is being crapped on because Allen and Snyder are delusional enough to believe SM taught them how to scout and he is no longer needed. All Snyder needed was 2 decent years and his arrogance couldn't be contained. I personally believe this team will not be a legitimate contender until Snyder is gone. I also think that Gruden's extension means nothing let them not win 6 games this year with the turnover on offense and watch Gruden be fired. SM coming here was a blessing that seems to have turned to a curse.

This exactly. Cousins isn't saying anything and neither are the Redskins. All of the "news" that fans are reacting to right now is just noise and speculation.Burgundy&GoldForever wrote:Yes, but, the thing is the only people saying Kirk Cousins wants out of DC are the media. Well we have to react some type of way. Heck The Giants just signed Brandon Marshall.........Between us losing our 2 top wideouts, giving a 3 year deal to a old TE and by the looks of it SM and Cousins leaving too, what do we have besides Allen and Snyder running this team back into the ground. I mean before at least we were always off season champions because of our FA signings heck we don't even have that anymore.......Depression has again set in........

I just wanted to say congratulations to the NY Giants for winning the NFC East this season...
Well played.
We can trust Scot all we want to but it doesn't matter for this year.
Hopefully we can look forward to our 2018 season.

I've heard him say: (1) he wants to be where he's wanted, and (2) when a team puts a franchise tag on you, that says they want you. That's clear enough to me.DaSkinz Baby wrote:I am not sure about anyone else but to me I have not seen one interview or read any direct comment from Cousins or his agent saying anything about him wanting to be here. Both Cousins and the team have said that settling on a long-term deal would be a good thing.

Yep year 2 the G man defense will have jelled and the passing offense will be awesome. Teams will have to pick their poison and let's not forget they still haven't gotten a RB either. Watch right after the draft Snyder will fire SM and he will go to one of our opponents and win another ring. We will continue to look like the dysfunctional girl that was hard to get over while Allen and Snyder continue to laugh all the way to the bank.langleyparkjoe wrote:I just wanted to say congratulations to the NY Giants for winning the NFC East this season...

Not on my dime. Being a fan for 50+ yrs. I have spent a lot of $$$$ on Redskin "stuff" but no more, I'm done. I will always have a soft spot for the Redskins because of memories from the good times but I can't stand the current bunch of impostors. Can they spell Football?langleyparkjoe wrote:DaSkinz Baby wrote:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/foo ... on-making/The handling of Cousins and his contract also represented an area of disagreement. McCloughan had told people around the league that if he had full control, the Redskins would have signed the quarterback to a multiyear contract in 2016, avoiding the use of two straight franchise tags with long-term resolution. That angered Allen, who in turn started blaming his general manager in league circles for all of the negative media leaks about Cousins. Allen publicly has taken an “all in” approach on the quarterback. But sources say he is still hesitant to give the quarterback a lucrative multi-year deal.
This would also explain things if Cousins truly does want out.

Re: In Scot We Trust ??
WHY? - DarthMonk has said that we can sign Cousins to a $25M long term deal and still sign all the others that we want to keep PLUS add any free agents on defense that we need - I was only pointing out that we don't need to go to a stupid deal like $30M or whateverStorminMormon86 wrote:You were doing so good to with your first reply...SkinsJock wrote:The size of the deal is not all that important - the amount it would take to sign Cousins is most likely between $22M-$25M
EVEN if you give him $26M the franchise can still afford to do whatever it wants financially
it's SIMPLE - Cousins is not worth signing to a long term deal that hurts the FO adding all the other players we need
IMO $20M is not enough - think we might get him for $24M - definitely $25M
but - if I were Cousins, I'd get the hell out of town with these guys in charge here
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
Re: In Scot We Trust ??
I think that Cousins would have stayed here if this franchise was properly managed - there is no way that he's staying here now
I understand that he can't just leave but he will not be signing a long term deal with these bozos - he might, if he was stupid

Re: In Scot We Trust ??
From the same article ...
Allen also disapproved of McCloughan’s hands-on approach with players. At one point late in the year, a frustrated defensive back left practice with the session in progress and retreated to the locker room. McCloughan went to retrieve him, telling the player to come to his office so they could talk. Allen, according to two people, later reprimanded McCloughan, cursing at him and telling him never to go in the locker room again.

If half of this article is truly, its absolutely damning. Specifically of Bruce Allen. The truth is going to come out soon enough, and this couldn't be a worse story if this is it.Burgundy&GoldForever wrote:https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/foo ... on-making/The handling of Cousins and his contract also represented an area of disagreement. It gets worse. Apparently Kirk Cousins does want out, to the 49ers, but Dan Snyder is vehemently opposed to trading Cousins to the Shanahans because personal grievances.riggofan wrote:If half of this article is truly, its absolutely damning. This just reeks of Dan Snyder and his ego…remember he was the one who mortgage the farm for RG. So to admit that RG wasn’t the guy was hard enough, but to also have to admit that Shanahan was right is even worst. Hard to blame Bruce, he’s just carrying out the orders of the owner IMO. What a shame we have an owner who just can’t be happy that he stumbled onto a good QB, what would be even worst is if he allows his ego to get in the way of getting something in return for him because he doesn’t like the Shanahans!!

Yes it is. This is solely about what Cousins wants. The FO needs to put their big boy pants on and resign him. There are no two ways around it. And if Cousins doesn't want to be here, the FO need to trade him to get something in return besides a possible compensatory pick next year. Cousins holds all of the cards.Burgundy&GoldForever wrote:Half of me says "F Cousins" because it's not about what he wants.

No, he doesn't. That's just asinine thinking. How about a year out of football or on the bench behind Colt McCoy? How will that do for your next contract, Kirk?StorminMormon86 wrote:Yes it is. But, no. Team owners have turned into gutless wonders who just roll over on command when a player is unhappy. Well, screw that and screw Cousins.
Here's what I'd do. Wait until every other team in the league has its QB situation set and then lift the tag. Piss on him.

What are you talking about? Cousins will sign the tag and play under it for a year and get $24 million and then hit the open market.
