Who's getting cut?

Post by SkinFan 0-16 or 16-0 »

We've got 90 players, and we have to cut down to 65, by tuesday. That's 35 players, who won't be here.

Who is it let's try to put together a list, of those who definatley will be gone.

ADE JIMOH:, please!!!

I like the guy, but he does not belong in the game of football, at least not right now. Let's face it right now he should not be allowed, to go to any games.

Ola Kimrin, and Stemke

These guys, are good and deserve jobs, we should cut them now, si they have a chamce to find a job elsewhere. They won't be making, our team so the least we could do is give them the benefit of the doubt.

Gibran Hamdan

Once again another guy I like, but the fact that he could not get on to the field, probably means that heis gone, just like I said, about Kimrin and Stemke, he deserves a chance to find another job.

Cliff Russell

This guy is fragile. He cannot stay healthy, and we have 5 capeable receivers. He would be in competition, for the #6 job, which he has already lost. As a matter of fact, he probably lost the job, for #7 ( if that is possible). We have 7 receivers better than him, this guy is most likely gone.

Besides, a few undrafted free agents, and a couple of veterans journeymen, that is all I can think of right, now.

Is there anybody that I'm missing :feedback;

Hamden seems like practice squad material, like others have said.

Well, maybe so. I just thought it was a bad sign that Joe Gibbs did not even feel the need to put him in, maybe next wekk, if he is still here.

This is true. No way to know until it happens I guess.

How exactly does the practice squad work? Do the players have to be cut and then resigned? Giving other teams a chance to sign them?

Usually they are cut in the last, cut and then the team can bring them back the same week, if not the next day.

One thing in Hamdan's favor, is that there are now 8 spots on practice squad instead of the usual 5.

Honestly I don't think we'll see him. It upsets me though. This kid has an arm. I was shocked on the WJFK pregame show when Gibbs said his name. I didn't even think he knew he was still wearing burgundy and gold!

If Rufus and Ralph brown are jetisoned, does Ray just get to have "Brown" on his jersey? :P

I don't know about Ralph and Rufus, but besides that your list is probably perfect.

We need 2 more corners for depth. You need, I would say about 6 corners, thatway if 2 happen to go down you still have enough to play dime coverage. We have Smoot, Springs, Harris, Bauman, we still need 2 more.

Not to mention that Gregg Williams said Rufus' name first when asked about surprising players.
who we may not know.

Gari Scott will be cut, but he could end up on prctice squad. Because of his mental toughness, and his ability to work hard.

Sultan may not be cut this week, but that does not meam he is safe.

Was Sultan on our practice squad last year?? Is he eligible to be on it this year?? I'm hoping we don't cut him and because of today's performance another team grabs him up. I'd like to have a back up like that around.

He was on our roster last year, but that idiot from florida whose name I will not say chose not use him. He only gave him 1 carry, and on that play he got 9 yards.

Jacobs wont get cut. He's worth something in the league. Miami is hurting. For Sultan, he's a stud. I've said it all along. The guy just needs to be given a chance. I would love to see him play the whole first half with the first string offense. I would bet he'd have about a hundred or more yards. The guys a workhorse.
No one really knows his story but being in LA i know if pretty well. He played a USC but his Jr. year he had a season ending knee injury. His senior year he was beat out by a RB that plays for Oakland (dont remember the name). He wasnt drafted but came to try out for the team last year. He was placed on our practice squad but called up when we had all the injurys. He's made a few tackles on special teams and i think that he only helps us on our depth at RB. I think that we should possibly get rid of the backup who's costing us the most. I dont know. Thats why i dont work in football.

Vargas?

I like McCullough, and I too wish he'd gotten more of a chance last year - but he got hurt the one play he went in, right after Betts got hurt if I remember rightly... that's why Stupidipus only played him the one play

I don't know about Rufus Brown...but Ralph Brown and Ade Jimoh need to hold hands on their way out the door.

I think Sultan stays. He's been very productive so far. And he's cheap.
I have travelled the net and found the Redskins promise land. This is, by far, the best site out there for Redskins/NFL News, Notes, Opinions, and so much more.

Jacobs won't get cut.... I hope - one of the only WR that caught the ball... even if he did fumble - good time to learn how to tuck the ball - point in the palm, point in the arm... I would rather he learn that now than in the regular season

He does have a motor, he does have hands... might be one of the exceptions to the Florida receivers rule

Ray Brown has always had "Ray Brown" on his jersey for as long as I can remember.

Cut Simon. I can't stand him, he is not a very good RB, but, like Hamdan, everyon says, "Oh, wow! He signs autographs nicely and/or (In Simon's case.) is good verse those God awful defenses going against God awful offenses! Waffle!" ...

My like for Hamdan goes way beyond him signing autographs. Honestly anyone at training camp I stood near was looking on their roster for the kids name. He's got an arm. And I think given the chance he could develope into a way better QB then Hasselbeck.

As far as Simon goes, he was on the team last year, though we didn't see much from him. I don't know if that should tell us something or not.

I am all for cutting Taylor Jacobs. I think we have depth at that position already and his performance last night gave me flashbacks of last year. We have Thrash and though he didn't make catches last night, he will with an accurate pass. He just got over thrown quite a bit. Thrash delivered for us when he was here before and I think he will again.

I know this won't be popular, but I'll write it anyway. Bowen really needs to be on that list also. The only reason that I wouldn't is because of depth. If we had any more depth at safety, the guy just wouldn't be in the mix.

I asked the question many threads ago, when have we seen Bowen lay a non-practice, non-teammate big hit on someone? Not to mention the fact his coverage skills are highly suspect. If I was attacking our defense, I would work to get him in isolation on anyone.

We should cut -anybody- that is not ready to contribute effectively when the season starts. Enough of excuses about injuries and lack of concentration.

If anybody is competing for a job, an injury is not an excuse to stay with the team. Everybody must -earn- their spot if it is up for grabs.

Sure you want everybody ready at the beginning of the season but there are players that have not shown -anything at all-.

I did not like much of anything last night. Some of the cuts have been predicted above in this thread. But I also suspect that we will have a few surprises come Tuesday.

Taylor Jacobs has deceptive speed and runs crisp routes. He gets seperation which cant be taught. I think that SFR is right...he will learn to tuck the ball away. Theres no way he doesnt make this team.
