That's the way it will be until the Skins develop a run game and the linebackers are concerned about stopping the run and play up opening up slants and other patterns. It's a Redskin problem not a Cousins problem. The Skins don't have a running game or a big receiver to throw fades to in the Redzone.
Re: Cousins Is The Best Redskin In Decades
the Redskins biggest problem is the defense - this will get fixed
Cousins biggest problem is not that we don't have a RB or that we are hopeless in the Red Zone - these 'problems' can get fixed
Cousins biggest problem is that he's not a great all round passing machine - he can get the ball deep, he can zing it into tight windows, he can do a lot of things but he just doesn't have a lot of confidence in the fade route - this requires touch and he does not have it
this is not a big deal but it's not just going to get better because we all want it to

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Darrell Green is the "current" best Redskin we've ever had and it's not even close due largely in part to Sean Taylor being taken too soon.Deadskins wrote:My answer to both statements is: He was.StorminMormon86 wrote:He could have been. Re: Cousins Is The Best Redskin In Decades
Ok, if could trade Kirk Cousins even up for some Redskin who played in the last 3 decades who would you trade him for and why?
There isn't a guy who played in 30 years I would trade him for, not one. There are Redskins that accomplished more than Kirk obviously and some who were better at their position than Kirk but none more valuable than Kirk because QB is much more important than any other position. Think I'm wrong tell me who you would trade Kirk for an how that would improve the team more than Kirk's loss would hurt.

Re: Cousins Is The Best Redskin In Decades
this is the NFL not some fantasy game - Kirk Cousins is a lot better QB than any we've had in the past 20 years - why can't we just leave it at that
after what we saw last game he's not even in my top 15 QBs playing right now - he has been, but this is about the end of season run and his not playing QB very well at all - we were 6-3-1 and The Best Redskin In Decades and now, in your estimation, one of the most valuable players we could have on our team, is at 7-6-1 - you must do really well in your fantasy league

Re: Cousins Is The Best Redskin In Decades
I have made this point a couple of times here - this assertion is borderline man crush
Cousins cannot be compared to any great Redskin of any era when he's done nothing great - nothing
Kirk Cousins needs to make things happen that lead to victory in a playoff game

Re: Cousins Is The Best Redskin In Decades
Kirk Cousins is the best Redskins QB in decades.... Two decades.
I hope Cousins comes back, but if Cleveland or another teams gives Cousins the leverage to absolutely break the bank then I will have a clear conscience if the Redskins pat him on the back and thank him for a fun few years. Drop that $20+ million on the defense and let Colt McCoy take the reigns while they develop Sudfeld.

Re: Cousins Is The Best Redskin In Decades
Kirk Cousins is a good NFL QB but to be considered the best Redskin in decades you have to show that you can make a difference
winners find a way to get it done and we have not seen that special "IT" factor in Cousins' play and leadership
get out of here with the best Redskin in decades stuff - all that tells me is that we haven't had a very good player in decades
let's see if he can elevate his game to effect the outcome before we go showering him with accolades
IF Kirk Cousins were going to be a great NFL QB there is no way that the FO will let him walk - but they will if he wants too much
that will be a clear indication that the guys that know better do not think that Kirk Cousins is all that special

I'd trade Kirk Cousins for Sean Taylor ... OK, that's out of the way ...
it's easy to think Kirk Cousins is better than any of our recent QBs because there have not been any good NFL QBs here recently but there's no way this franchise would have won more games with Kirk Cousins as QB in those years either

Re: Cousins Is The Best Redskin In Decades
a matter of opinion - Cousins is the better QB but he just throws the ball, he doesn't catch it or make tackles
Cousins has also not shown that he can audible out of bad plays and he doesn't have a great command of the touch passes
Cousins is good he's not great - saying that Cousins is better than Brunell and Campbell is not saying much

This condition forces us to choose a quarterback from the last 30 years.OldSchool wrote:Think I'm wrong tell me who you would trade Kirk for an how that would improve the team more than Kirk's loss would hurt.
Not being able to satisfy this condition does not make him the best Redskin in decades.
Of course, maybe he is.
Having said all that I think Darrell Green was easily a better Redskin than Kirk has proven to be so far.

Grimm, Jacoby, Lachey or Butz. If you added any one of those hogs to this already solid Oline? Butz would solidy the Dline.
I would trade for a number of great players from the past. Kirk still has an opportunity this season. Even though a lot of us have been dissatisfied thus far. A playoff run ,Nfc Championship or SB title can make up for it all.
Seriously we are lucky to even have a chance to get in.

Re: Cousins Is The Best Redskin In Decades
We are fortunate to have Cousins playing QB but he's not an elite QB yet - he's just the best QB we've had in a long while
Cousins needs to win a playoff game and become a QB that has that "IT" factor
maybe then he could be considered a top 5 Redskins QB over the past 30-40 years
