again I ask - why even give this any credence at all ...

Cousins is a much better QB than Griffin - big effing deal ...
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Why are you so worked up about this thread and what does it have to do with Griffin?

Sean Taylor might have become that but he wasn't given the opportunity.
I missed seeing Houston by like 2 years. I was born in 1973 and he retired in 1980. I will say the way Sean played safety at a dominating level, in this era where the passing rules are so biased towards the offense, is impressive. Huge hits that were clean. Interceptions. Coverage without flags. Unreal.

Agreed he might have become best ever...in that last (half) season, the dude was just a force of nature.

Ken Houston stops Walt Garrison on the final play...MNF 1973.

We talked about this play until Houston retired.

And these guys:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8QI8s4XdLo

Larry Brown: best Redskin RB ever. Yes, Riggins was special, but I'd take Brown running behind the Hogs.

Jack Pardee: George Allen's on-field defensive coordinator.

Sonny and Billy

Those receivers

This. Larry Brown won 1972 League MVP behind a line that was anything but The Hogs.

Help requested. I saw a stat the other day where only 2 other guys had dome something and 1 was Larry Brown. Might've been something he did in first 10 games of a season.

Anyone else see and remember?

I didn't see it but Brown had 1,689 yards from scrimmage in 12 games in 1972. That's 140 yards per game, which I would think would be some kind of record or close to it.

Way too early to say how Cousins will end up in our history. The guy seems legit, though.

However, the NFL has seen a ton of other very good QBs that racked up thousands of yards

and TDs and never achieved anything but personal records.

Until I see some Championship wins I won't even start to consider Cousins in a serious all-time great list.

Give me a break - Cousins is clearly showing that he's a very good QB but there a very few fans that would come out and make a claim like this - that is just a very biased view ...

let's wait a few years and see if Cousins can win a playoff game or 2

Yes, as I said it's a very subjective judgement as I also state I might be alone making this judgement.

We'll see how things look a decade from now maybe this view will be widely held, let's hope so because it will mean Cousins had a great run. But as of today in my opinion he's the most talented Redskin I've seen.

If you are asking me the answer is yes I remember Sonny, he was good and he earned his gold jacket. Sonny also played on more balanced teams than the 2015 and 2016 Redskins. I am looking forward to the more balanced teams Cousins will lead in the future.

Sorry... now, I really do like Cousins... but I watched him mishandle 3 or 4 fade opportunities to Doctson in preseason... and last season, as well. Too flat... to early... too short... too long. I have also seen him mishandle it to Reed. He has two TE's who can run this... and, Garcon, despite being smaller, has the strength to establish position for this also. Cousins, for some reason cannot grasp this. It's kind of like Jason Campbell, whom despite his huge arm, could not master the deep pass. His receivers always had to wait on the ball, so the pass was either defended, or the receiver was dropped the second the ball was in his hands. Cousins, despite not having the range of Campbell, has NAILED the deep pass. He has NAILED the outlets, the crossings, the outs, the slants. He can run zone read. He can sprint out...

I am baffled that he is unable to throw the fade. Perhaps someday... but this skill would SOLVE the Redskins Red Zone problems, as it's the one route no one is concerned about defending.

A great QB makes the other players better - a great QB does not need great players around him to be great - HE JUST IS

Cousins is a good NFL QB - he's not even close to being considered a great QB

Cousins might become "the best Redskin in decades" but it will take a decade or more for him to be even considered

I don't know about the rest of this discussion, but that's pretty cool! Hope he can keep that up for years to come.

Not questioning your claim but, rather, your meaning.

More balanced in what way?

In ten years, no one will give one rat's ass about player of the month awards. We're going to need playoff wins.

Of course we need playoff wins. So what? I'm still happy for Cousins and glad he had such a good month playing for our team.

Tom Brady has been named player of the month nine times over his career. I don't think I'm going out on much of a limb here to say that if your QB is doing well, there's a decent chance your team might be doing well too.
