5 games to go - Gruden needs to find a way to get this team into the playoffs

making bad decisions and not being a good HC will mean that he's not here next season :D
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Well we all know how spot on your predictions are, so I guess that guy better get his act together. Nice trolling! :D

Numbers and relationships aside, head coaches are judged on one thing: wins and losses. Gruden has won a division title and is poised to make the playoffs in back-to-back seasons for a franchise that hasn’t accomplished that since the early '90s. Since he was allowed to choose his starting QB, Chucky’s little brother is 15-10-1. That's a .596 winning percentage. How good is a .596 winning percentage? That's better than Super Bowl-winning coaches Bill Parcells (.569), Chuck Noll (.566) and Jimmy Johnson (.556).

Looks like a pretty decent winning percentage, but apparently not good enough to keep your job in Washington. Tough town.

 I think that he's actually 16-10-1 not 15-10-1 since Cousins took over - so he's actually 20-22-1 as HC of the Redskins
if we finish up 4-1 he would be 24-23-1

Jay Gruden has not done a bad job here - admittedly the franchise was a disaster when he came in

AND

Gruden stood up against Snyder/Allen and helped Cousins to become a really good NFL QB

BUT

Jay Gruden was not hired by SM and he is the HC for an idiot owner
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance

That's total BS. Replacing the head coach IS the very definition of starting over. The only way it's not is if another current coach takes over. And, even then, it's still the most dramatic change there is for a team.

True statement.

No head coach is going to come into a job and do things the same way the coach before him did them because ...

That's what got the previous coach fired. So, there are going to be changes in philosophy, system, coaching staff, training personnel, etc.

Teams can't hire a qualified head coach and say, "You know, we really liked the way the guy we just canned did x,y,and z. Could you do it that way, too? We really don't want to upset the apple cart too much here!"
“He was at that time the smartest player in the league. We did everything we could to try to eliminate him from the play. We knew if we didn’t neutralize him, then we had less of a chance of winning.” - John Hannah on Chris Hanburger

You guys are completely missing his point. The team is going to keep everything the same, but bring in a coach who only makes the good decisions. Its going to be amazing. Absolutely tremendous.

you have to factor in Dan Snyder's stupidity when speculating about this franchise's future

there's no reason to change HCs based on what is happening - Jay Gruden has done well considering what state this franchise was in
but
Snyder OK'd Gruden's hiring because he wanted someone to 'fix' RG3 - Gruden not only didn't bother, he saw the potential in Cousins, the QB that Snyder's favorite HC, Mike Shanahan, liked and eventually made him the starter over Snyder's pet QB

Gruden is not high on Snyder's list and if this franchise has a good season and goes 8-7-1, Snyder will go bananas again

fortunately, no matter who is the HC, McCloughan will still be 'making this franchise great again' - just like someone else

What has Dan Snyder done since hiring Scot McCloughan that leads you to even mention his name?

I think you just look for ways to be a troll.

right - Dan Snyder will not want any changes if we end up going 8-7-1 .... which is actually better than most here expected

especially not with a HC that has made a number of bad decisions this season - no! everything will be just fine ....

There you go again with he didn't fix Griffin baloney.... I had thought you had moved on but I guess not....

Add the Cleveland coach to the list of horrible guys who "didn't bother to fix" Griffin because Brown's HC got Griffin hurt in the very first game.

I kind of laughed reading that yesterday too. Had forgotten about the whole "Gruden didn't fix Griffin" thing.

Saw no point in starting a new thread on this but it looks like Jordan Reed is out Sunday. Adam Schefter reporting, among others.

Man that sucks!! I don't know what the stats are but I'm quite sure our RZ offensive numbers are much better with him on the field.

We're definitely going to need Vernon Davis and Robert Kelley to step up.
