Looks Like it's Gonna be Trump

Post by DarthMonk »

I'm very disappointed.

Looks like he has both houses.

I hope he does a good job.

Wow.

I'm more scared than disappointed. My hope is that all the racist, misogynistic, and xenophobic overtones of his campaign were just pandering to gain the votes he needed, but I don't really believe it. I totally understand the "drain the swamp" mentality he tapped into, but it's not like he's bringing in outsiders to be part of his cabinet. Just the opposite, in fact. He's planning to pump raw sewage into the swamp. smh

Unqualified Republican POTUS appointing unqualified Cabinet members and Department Secretaries, Republican Congress, Republican SCOTUS. No checks and balances.

I realize people were pissed at the establishment and Clinton embodies the establishment but we could feel the effects of this for a very long time.

Every time we have a rogue Republican President we spend the next decade recovering.

The last time we had an entirely unqualified President we got Reaganomics, Iran Contra, Panama, Grenada, Nicaragua, Libya, etc.

A large number of voters this election aren't old enough to remember that history, otherwise they'd be reluctant to have risked repeating it.

Thank God - BUT - does anyone really think Trump is going to effectively change how things are done in DC

nothing Obama did measured up to what he and the Democrats 'promised' during the campaign in 2008

thank God we don't have 4 more years of that ineffective type of leadership

nothing is going to happen while our politicians continue to act the way they have recently
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Wrong again, SJ

Also, 73 (and counting) straight months of steady job growth is pretty impressive given the mess Bush left us in.

I voted for Obama - I was stupid enough to believe - "change we can believe in ..." right

what happened last night was a clear indication of how the voters felt about both HRC and Obama's legacy

it's time to 'move it on up'

You realize that she did win the popular vote, right? Unless by "the voters" you mean white males without a college education (the only demographic Trump won). Besides, the promises Obama broke are all unlikely to be changed in a Trump presidency, as they are all Republican-initiated policies. In the end, the elites still control everything. They just threw a bone to the segment of the population most likely to take real action against the government. Nothing will change for the better for those struggling to get by.

Your taxes are going to be lowered. Manufacturing jobs are going to be created all across the U.S.A. China has taken what used to be dominated by the U.S.A. Those people in cities like Detroit who have seen there jobs shipped over to Countries like China and Mexico have spoken.

It's not a racial issue. The country is just tired of seeing other Countries profit from our Land. We the workers of the U.S.A should benefit from our markets first and foremost before any foreign entity.

this country has managed to 'survive' a lot of Presidents that many gave little chance of being able to do anything worthwhile in the past 46 years that I've been here and I'm sure we'll continue to be the best place in the world under Donald Trump

I'm not at all scared about our future, there's just too many great people here - life is never really as bad as many predict it will be

btw - hopefully, all those that said they were leaving the country if Trump won the election are making plans to do just that

The USA is and always will be, the greatest place on earth

At least we can all agree on that.

But it does beg the question: Why the need to make it great again?

do you really think that much if anything will come from most of what was stated in the last year?

do you really think that Trump is going to put HRC in jail "where she belongs ... "? - the justice department maybe but not Trump

Trump will want to be a good President - he's got a lot to learn in order for that to happen

I completely understand your feelings.

I have been disgusted after the previous two presidential disasters. Frankly, you and yours are overeacting horribly. Trump was never described by any Democrat as "racist" until he ran against one. He was never described as "irrational" by any Democrat until he ran against one. He has openly stated that he is a jerk for years, but that not once evoked Democrat ire, as, at the time, he was one, and, after all, that's what powerful Democrats do (see "William Jefferson Clinton"). Hillary actually encouraged him at one point, to enter politics, while fully understanding his makeup. The reality is, he is a centrist, who also understands the importance of protecting our National sovereignty, and reinvigorating our manufacturing base. He was a lifelong Democrat, has liberal views on issues important to women, has never invoked a glass ceiling in any of his companies, has always engaged the LBGT community, and (by history), hires "the right person for the job" without regard for sex, race, ethnicity, or other identity.

I also simply don't understand the continuing need of the left to mock those who chose to vote for him, as you have above. It is infantile at worst, and disrespectful and divisive at best.

Time to move on. Trump will be President. It's likely that there will be things shoved down your throat that you find intolerable. Welcome to my last 8 years... though I suspect you will find it far more tolerable than mine, mostly because, like most Dems, you fell for the wedge politics of the DNC. Donald Trump is not the racist demagogue they have painted him as... The wheel goes round. Get over it.

On another note:
Frankly, I don't know what national interest would be served by indicting Hillary... OTOH...
I imagine that Obama's last act will be a pardon for Hillary Clinton. That, of course, would be a shame. Folks only accept such pardons when there is reason. Nixon would, certainly, have been found guilty. He accepted the pardon. Will Hillary? As the great Harry Truman once declaired: "You can't get rich in politics unless you're a crook." Wasn't Hillary "dead broke" in 2001?

Trump gets elected fair and square, but liberals across the country are in a whiny uproar complete with riots and counseling on college campuses. I think that BS makes the U.S. look worse than having Trump in office does.

Might be interesting to know if many of the people that are 'protesting' and making trouble actually voted

if you did not vote, STFU - you already made it clear that you don't care

Oh, what a relief it is ... thankfully, this Country doesn't have to go through 4 more years like the past 8

like the man said - get over it - next time there's an election, show up and vote instead of sitting at home and waiting to gloat

this is going to be different
