Kirk finally beats a team with a winning record. Not like he was the MVP, though. But he was better than Sheli.

Slowly looking better. Not where he was last season. Still way too many receivers running free and not being hit.

Hopefully today calms him down and we see him tear up Cleveland before we hit a tougher stretch.

I think we beat a couple teams last year that at the time we played them had winning records. Plus 2 teams we beat last year would of had winning records had we not beat them.

The run game handicapped us this game. A lot of people will blame kirk for not scoring tds instead of getting those 5 fg's... but when your inside the 20, and the defense can 100% play pass protect with no threat of the run,its gonna make it a lot harder to score.

I sat we give Mark brown a shot... pull him up from the practice squad, he could be one of those guys that just really has it during game time but doesn't show it in practice, really what do we have to lose in giving the guy a shot?

It's kind of hard to run the ball effectively when your line is so makeshift the pro bowl left tackle is playing guard. Calling up a practice squad running back isn't going to fix the offensive line.

Even with the shuffling of the line they played fine, and doesn't change the stats from the last 2 games either. It's obvious the coaching staff has no confidence in the run, and it's either because the run blocking, the running backs, or both... I know run and pass blocking are different, but seems to me with how well our line pass blocks, the issue may just be the backs. Jones is indecisive, and is a half second too late all the time, when really with as big as he is, should just lower his shoulder and pound the first hole he sees.

So maybe mack brown, who in our limited view seemed to find a hole and just explode through it, is worth an in game look to see what he can (or cant) do

I love some Mack attack.... only, he was doing it in meaningless games vs back ups and Walmart workers!
That doesn't translate into fantasy beast.
Our play calling gets a little stale IMHO. IDK if Kirk checks out of run plays a lot or if it's by design... but some of those play actions would be better as hand offs. Think coach would know running the same runs on first downs won't be very effective.

..and fwiw Matt Jones got it done when he needed to today. When the rb never sees the ball, particularly in the redzone, that's on coach.

Plus do any of you realize kirk leads the league in passing yards right now? Yes he's had 3 picks, Eli should of had 4 picks just yesterday. A lot of you are worse than bandwagoners, give the man a few games to get into it.

Yards don't mean nothing when you also one of the leaders in pass attempts. Kirk gotta start getting us in the endzone. He missed 4 WR's that were wide open for touchdowns today and thats only what I seen watching the game. He's not playing like he was last year but I think with more balance it should take some pressure off of him.

He will be fine though but I hate the fact that we are going to have to score 30points to beat teams this year. That put alot of pressure on the guy and he's probably trying to be too perfect and missing some things.

He really only has two INTs. The one at the end of the Pitt game was BS. The ball clearly hit the ground. The replay ref just didn't want to change the ruling because the game was over.

I do not like Eli at all but most NFL GMs consider him a better QB than Kirk Cousins

Cousins really only has 2 INTs as 1 he had against the Steelers should not count - that being said, his first 2 games were not good by his own standards and yet his stats indicate he has played well - goes to show how REALLY misleading stats can be - if QBs were paid according to their stats, Cousins would have received a long term deal - hopefully Cousins play on the field is going to improve to the $20M+ level QB he claims to be

Cousins' game against the giants was good statistically but we got 5 FGs and almost lost the game ...
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I don't think his stats indicated he played "well". His QBR was somewhere near 45, which was in the bottom third. His QBR against NYG was approx. 76, which was 7th I believe. I dislike ESPN in general, but I do respect their QBR stat (for the most part, there are flaws, but all in all its the best indicator statistically as to how a QB played compared to what is out there).

Stats are misleading unless you know how to analyze them --- and if you can, they can be very telling. Stats are a puzzle pieces --- you have to analyze them and know how to intersect them between one another in order to get the full picture.

Stats had nothing to do with Cousins not getting a long term deal. The fact he didn't get one had everything to do with whether our FO thought he could sustain, long term, what he was doing last year ---- and no stat on the planet can tell you that.

At the end of the day, all that matters is wins and losses. We are 1-2 right now, and are gonna have a pretty tough stretch of games in the 2nd half of the season. If the team wins the next 2 games and kirk doesn't thrown any picks, the Rollercoaster just goes back up the hill and everyone goes back to talking about how awesome he is again.

Really? Whatever NFL GM doesn't consider Eli a better QB should be immediately fired...

A 2 time Superbowl MVP, 4x probowler who has thrown for over 45,000 yards and almost 300 TDs. Versus a guy whom no one is convinced should be even a starting QB (aside from Mike Shanahan).

Ok. Yeah that's a comparison.

Meh. Sheli's no Peyton. Her numbers have been inflated by the players around her. To me, she's only average. Especially if you knock her around a bit.

over react much? I 'fixed' the post for your sake

btw - Cousins is a lot better than you seem to think

I get your point... but, you know as well as I, Shelli was NOT really the mvp of either of those games. That was all a suck-up reporter deal, probably dictated by the Commish and his boss, the owner of the minor NY team. Defensive players got ROBBED in the first one... Only quarterback in the history of the game who completed clutch passes with his head in anatomically difficult location... you know... Nope.

Cousins is off to another good year with each game seeming like an improvement over the last.

I was really pleased the Skins ran the ball more during the last two games. They had 30 attempts against the Giants and 26 times against the Browns and picked 145 yards on the Browns. This sort of balance with make the offense more effective and just as importantly keep the Redskin defense on the bench where they don't get bitch slapped.

My impression of Cousins so far this year has been, "Okay, not great." Competent and capable.

Interesting numbers perspective though:

I keep waiting for him to clearly demonstrate that he's a good NFL QB - his stats are good but they do not reflect how inconsistent he's been and that he's made a lot of bad decisions - that interception on Sunday could have been devastating

all the comparisons to other QBs are not as important as the fact that he's not shown that he's a good NFL QB .... yet

lots of time though - hopefully he picks it up soon because the 6 games after the BYE week will be a huge test

Good stats. If he cleaned up everything that everyone keeps faulting him for, his stats would probably be better than Peyton manning or Brady in their best years.

It's ok to pick out things he can do better, but to say if he doesn't fix all those things then he is not a good QB is incorrect.
