I imagine he'll get a chance to catch on with another team next year, but I'm guessing that team won't be the Redskins. Oh well. I was salivating over the idea of having him plus Kerrigan and Smith. That was going to be a great combo of players.

While it would of been nice for him to play and do well... honestly I'd rather Preston Smith get all the reps. I think he is more physically gifted, he is younger with less baggage, more upside, and a potential long term solution at a low price point since it's only his 2nd year. Imy betting on Smith being a top 5 OLB in this league, possibly by the end of this season.

I know he is a player for our team and all so it sucks that he won't play for us this year but I feel bad for the guy on a personal note. He was at Redskins park often working super hard and now he will be about 2 years in a row. This is hard for a competitor like Junior Galette.

Someone pull that video from the beach. Pull the comments made about players in NO. Nothing to feel bad about. His character is extremely questionable. Stinks from an on field perspective, but please don't act like he was a good guy. We got him for cheap because nobody wanted him.

That's a huge shame but the fact is that the NFL is a sport where injuries "are a part of the game"

this is why franchises with better depth are always 'favored' to have better seasons

we won the division without him in 2015 - time to suck it up and give the next man up a chance to shine
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Dwight Freeney, anyone?

Greg Hardy, anyone? 8-[

Why we want Hardy? Bad off the field and didn't do much of anything last year...

Freeney might be worth a look...Vet min and he's a 3rd down OLB/pass rusher...

Could we make a trade?

Chip Kelly didn't draft Eli Harold, surely we could get him for a 3rd rounder??

You're right of course. But I was kind of hoping we'd at least make it to training camp before guys started tearing achilles and being lost for the season.

there's never a 'good' time to have injuries AND I was really looking forward to this guy possibly helping our D

the only 'good' part about this is it gives the guys 'time' to mitigate the loss

With Junior Galette lost for another year with a ruptured Achilles tendon, Washington needs help at the position. Help could come in the form of free-agent Greg Hardy.

Ed Werder of ESPN reports that the team has discussed adding Hardy, who spent five years with the Panthers and last season in Dallas.

Werder points out that cornerback Josh Norman would vouch for Hardy, based on their mutual time together in Charlotte. The bigger question is whether Washington would be willing to withstand the potential P.R. fallout from adding Hardy.

Last week, the Jaguars worked out Hardy without much of a major negative reaction. Even if Washington would be criticized for giving Hardy another second chance based on his domestic violence incident from two years ago, the franchise knows a thing or two about ignoring criticism and moving forward.

Hardy has played defensive end in a 4-3 defense throughout his career. In Washington, Hardy would become a linebacker in the 3-4 attack. Ultimately, his primary role would be to rush the passer from the edge of the defensive line. That’s a skill that remains the same regardless of defensive alignment.

I don't care about the PR hit one way or the other. Its not like this team regularly receives positive press.

It would surprise me to see it happen, but I'd trust McCloughan to make a decision like that.

Yeah Hardy is not happening, it was a bogus rumor that numerous sources denied immediately. Remember, Scot is in charge of who comes and goes.

Preston Smith is our future, he will be better this year than Gallette has ever been.

Just wildly exaggerated when somebody admitted the team had discussed Greg Hardy.

I'm sure the team did discuss Greg Hardy. Probably went something like:

- hey, we just lost one of our edge rushers for the year. What should we do now?
- How about we sign Greg Hardy?
- No.

Sounds accurate. Also, Florio is known for making things up. The local beat writers, Mike Jones in this particular case, generally have a good handle on the thought processes of the front office. Jones almost immediately dismissed the Florio rumor as complete crapola. Since that was printed several team writers have said the Redskins plan on standing pat for now and seeing what they have in their reserves. They do not want to guarantee any more salary to free agents unless absolutely necessary since they are up against the cap. I had written a blog on this yesterday but the story changed so many times in the last 24 hours I scrapped it. The wind is blowing in too many different directions. I fully expect several veteran role players will still be looking for work in a month when the team is making cuts and scouring the waiver wire. I almost choked on my breakfast when someone asked if 290lb Trent Murphy was moving back to OLB. He couldn't keep up when he weighed 260lbs.

I say we sign um... Hardy's a beater but there's been worse beatings before, I.E.. Europeans and the Native Americans.
Oh, well now that I typed that I guess we can't sign him.
