Andre Roberts Released

Post by Burgundy&GoldForever »

Do you really require a source or will you just take my word for it? 8-[

It will appear soon enough... and, it's only logical. Seems they were blown away by "new guy" in rookie camp...

You can't say he didn't get chances. Too many drops. Some people might point to the number of WRs we added after signing him, but the reality is that in the NFL you often have to force the coaches to play you because you're just too good to sit. Instead we were paying him like a starter to hang out on the fringes of the roster.

$4 million cap savings for a player who was paid as a #2 WR and performed like a #7 WR.

Interesting. Mystery solved:

Why did the Redskins wait to release him when it was obvious that he wasn’t in the team’s plans for quite some time? According to Adam Caplan of ESPN the Redskins were trying to trade him. Even though the asking price likely was quite low—something like a swap of sixth- and seventh-round picks possibly would have done it—there were no takers. With his contract calling for him to make $4 million in each of the next two years, that’s not surprising. Often teams might be interested in dealing for a player but will have no interest in trading for his contract.

Also true, making it a no brainer... but Doctson made it a total no brainer.

No GM is going to trade for a $4MM receiver who can't catch. That's just asinine Bruce Allen thought it was a possibility.

I really don't think there was a downside to any effort to trading him... There is no shortage of Front Office NFL Clowns who will make stupid deals. You should know this... I'm pretty sure you didn't sleep through the recently ended (fingers crossed) experiment of Owner as GM...

yeah I don't see anything asinine about it at all. Didn't hurt us or cost us anything to hang on to him, see if something popped up.

Asinine is letting DeSean Jackson go for nothing without bothering to attempt a trade.

No. I didn't sleep through it. I drank through it. Heavily. -drinking

I almost didn't trust that he was still on the roster in the first place.
