RGIII signs with Cleveland Browns

Post by Irn-Bru »

"I'm excited about the opportunity to join the Dawg Pound and help build something here in Cleveland," Griffin said. "Coach Hue and Pep, I had a great meeting with them. I really believe in what they preach and how they can help not only me as a player but this team win games and that's what we're all about.

"I'm just excited to come in and compete. Nothing's ever been given to me in my life, so I just want to go out and compete with the guys and grow with this team. I feel like that's all I'm really focused on."

I'm just thrilled for Old School - his most hated QB is now on his other team's roster ...

not to worry though - it's commonly accepted that Griffin is not capable of playing QB in the NFL

GOTTA LOVE IT
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Let's see how happy he is when the Browns take a QB with the 2nd pick...

Or if they keep McCown and he beats him out for the job.

They should definitely take a QB in the draft, but this might put them in position to wait and get a developmental guy in the second round. Maybe trade out of #2.

Just read that McCown counts $5 million against the cap, so he's most likely gone. But still...Griffin's got to see the writing on the wall with Cleveland having that #2 overall pick.

Wow. Talk about a bad landing spot. They have one of the worst OLs in the game, poor skill position players, have an even worse owner than the skins (and there's only 1), and significant player turnover -- including players that flat out didn't want to return. That place is a garbage fire. That being said, Hue Jackson is a solid offensive mind and appears to be interested in giving him a chance.

Personally, I was hoping that RGIII would pick a route that was an actual INVESTMENT in his future ---- somewhere like AZ, PIT, DEN, or NO, where, while he may sit for 2+ years, he'll learn how to play in a healthy system and actually develop with the best coaches. Instead, "decided" to enter into a situation where he may get the chance to play, but with little to no support --- and RGIII is a QB that desperately needs support to be successful. CLE most certainly will draft a QB with their #2, so while RGIII may play some games up front, the long-term play is weak.

Now, I think that much of the reason for RGIII going to CLE was the market and the fact only a couple teams were seriously interested. This may have been his final and best play....
RIP Sean Taylor. You will be missed.

Cleveland, where quarterbacks go to die. They've had 25 of them since 2000. That's even more than we've had. 8-[

Fortunately for him this is a weak QB class. There isn't one prospect who anyone can point to and say he should start from day one.

Cleveland is the worst run franchise in the NFL now that DS finally saw the light and hired a real GM and signing Griffin is a much better move for Cleveland's doofus owner than drafting Manziel. I don't expect Griffin to accomplish much on the field for the Browns but good luck to him I hope he stays healthy.

Report: Hue Jax was awed by RGIII's workout

NFL.com's Jeff Darlington reports Browns coach Hue Jackson came away extremely impressed with Robert Griffin III following his free agent workout.

Per Darlington, Jackson told a group of Browns executives that it felt like "the Earth moved beneath my feet" after watching RGIII "rolled out in a full sprint to throw a pass." Jackson reportedly called Griffin's accuracy in passing drills "freakish," and was "awed" in general. We don't doubt Griffin is still a freak of nature in shorts and t-shirts, but it wasn't just personal animus that got him benched in Washington. Along with the injuries he suffered, RGIII's on-field performance completely collapsed, bottoming out in a hard-to-watch preseason last summer. RGIII's natural gifts are rare in the history of football, but there's a lot standing between him and even resembling his elite rookie form.

What happened there [in Washington] would break a lot of people. And I thank God for the people he surrounded me with to help me get through that time and to show me that this is what I’m supposed to be. This is my calling. I’m excited about that. And when it comes to what I need to work on, I’m real excited to have another opportunity to grow, to grow with a coach that believes in me. That’s big, and I just have to go out and prove it. I am considered a vet now after four years in the league. I’ve been through a lot more than anyone, than a lot of guys go through their entire careers. I’ve got a lot of experience and I can help a young guy, but that’s not my focus.

Still doesn't get it.

There are a ton of "fans" on social media saying they'll root for the Browns when we play them next year. Disgusting.

When the Colts drafted Peyton Manning or Andrew Luck in the first round did they draft a Qb in the fourth round in the same draft? That was an insult from the beginning.
If the Browns draft a Qb at no.2 it's not the same scenerio Robert went through but you already know that.

This franchise before Scotty Mac screwed him.
He was a rookie for goodness sake and Shanty got him injured his first year.

Maybe that's what Shanty was planning all along.

Nope, it’s probably worse. RG doesn’t operate well when he's not the “man”… Maybe the Browns won’t take a QB at 2?? But if they do it will not be to back up RG.

I'll be glad when there's something to talk about that actually involves the Washington Redskins. 8-[
