Knighton didn't cut it?

So I guess his 1 year make it or break deal didn't pan out.

Redskins run defense seemed soft. Coaches and GM probably asked themselves: "Could we have done worse without Pot Roast?"

I don't know that Pot Roast was really on a prove it deal, do you? Given his age, etc; just seems like he was a decent option as a one year stop gap. Not a guy we should have expected to re-sign on a long term deal.

He hasn't signed anywhere yet, has he? I wonder if he might still end up back here on another similar deal after the draft.

Funny. Keim answered my question this morning:

Re-sign Terrance Knighton: Yes, this remains a possibility. I don’t know how high the likelihood is; it might be rather small (there hasn't been a lot of contact recently). If they really viewed Knighton as the answer, he’d already be signed. So they’re clearly still looking for someone better. It was evident they wanted more from him this past season, and for him to be in better shape. He played his best ball late in the season. Knighton said recently on Twitter that he’s lost some weight; and it’s my understanding that he’s well aware he must get in even better shape this season. If the Redskins haven’t filled this position over the next couple weeks or in the draft (with a higher pick; tough to draft one in the low rounds and expect him to contribute immediately), then, yes, Knighton might be pursued again. I think there are a lot of ifs for this scenario to occur.

The deal with Knighton is the performance didn't justify the price tag. If they can re-sign him for less money there's a good chance they will. For a nose tackle to be worth upwards of $6 million a year he has to be consistently dominant.

Knighton wasn't, and anyone who watched the games would know that.
