Would make sense. Its too bad about Pot Roast though. I like him and I think he's been a good addition to that group. That d-line group has really led the team in a lot of ways IMO.

But you're right that he hasn't really performed where I'd expect the team to pay him a bunch to keep him around.

We have a ton of cap space going into the new league year. Pot Roast is such a good locker room presence, it would not surprise me at all if Scot McC doesn't lock him up early. Chemistry, character, culture....these are the differences between the team this season and years past.

I think Knighton has done plenty and we'll notice when he's not there. But he's also 30 and he's going to cost a lot of money to keep.

That's what I was thinking too. That whole group of him, Baker, Francois and Hatcher have made a big difference from day one.

He hasn't had a statistically great year, so maybe like B&G is saying we'll have the cap space available to keep him around on a reasonable deal.

Agreed. Last year, I complained through the season about our pathetic NT play... that has not been an issue this year. There is room for Pot Roast on this team... but an additional dominating presence would not hurt a thing.

watching the Alabama game, I learned that the defensive line guys are the 'team leaders' in the weight room, on the practice field and just about everywhere the players get together - we have a bit of that here it seems to me and I think that Pot Roast is one of those guys

nobody is guaranteed anything here anymore but I do think that the chemistry is very good here at this time

I'm not ready to look too far ahead but it is exciting to consider the make up here after what we've seen & including some guys coming off IR

Just remember... Scot is committed to BPA... you have no idea what his board will look like... but I have no reason to doubt that he will deviate from it.

ESPN 980 has been doing this morning Redskins show all week. Part of the show is "Redskins Rewind" where they've reviewed all of the wins. Really struck me how hugely important Jordan Reed has been this season. I knew it, but going back over each game, its kind of mind blowing. He's *nearly* become as important to the Skins as Gronk is to the Pats.

I posted that comment in this thread just to say, MAN, I hope McCloughan has been scouting TEs closely. I'd feel a lot better next year knowing we have some quality depth behind Reed.

So true, and with Reed's history of concussions, I feel about as good about his long-term future as I do RGIII's! I would love to see the Redskins draft a monster TE to shape in Reed's mold. I'm just not convinced yet that a guy like Niles Paul can have the same impact despite all the work he has put in.

The focus is always on Cousins or Jackson, but in reality for this redskins team the offensive MVP is Jordan Reed. On defense, it's gotta be Knighton or Baker. Those guys really allow the OLBs to get pressure on the QB. D Hall gets honorable mention for his transition and play at safety. Did anyone know he could tackle as well as he has this season?

Here's McShay's pick for the Skins today in his Mock Draft 2.0:

21. Washington Redskins (9-7)

Jarran Reed, DT, Alabama Crimson Tide

Reed is one of the best run-stuffing defensive linemen in this draft, which is saying something considering the talent pool up front. And while his sack numbers are underwhelming (2.0 total in two seasons), he still provides adequate inside push as a bull rusher. Even if free agent Terrance Knighton returns, it's time for Washington to add youth to its defensive front.

I think there would be a lot to like about that selection.

Two picks ahead of us were noteworthy:
Jaylon Smith, LB, Notre Dame Fighting Irish to the Bills at #19 and
Ezekiel Elliott, RB, Ohio State Buckeyes to the Jets at #20

Smith was a possible top 5 pick before that injury. Would be an interesting decision if he fell this far.

Also noted he has the Pukes taking Carson Wentz, QB, North Dakota State Bison at #4. I'd be surprised if Dallas doesn't go QB with that pick, so maybe unlikely that RG3 ends up there?

Umm, yeah. Obviously. What I'm saying is that I think its more likely that Dallas plans to take a QB in the draft at #4 than sign RG3. They can get a QB at #4, and its a decent situation for them with Romo where the rookie shouldn't have to play right away. (Or at least until week 3 when Romo gets hurt again.)

Guess we'll see. I still like Griffin, and I'm kind of pulling for him next year. It would be impossible to do that if he ends up in Dallas or Philly.

I'm hoping for good things BUT I think it's a stretch that he's ready to play - we don't really know how much he 'benefitted' from 2015, if at all

I predict the most important focus for this FO will be to try and get as many picks as we can

there are just so many examples of kids with so much talent like Randy Gregory who let themselves down despite all the good intentions

.. I liked Bruce's comment that "these things usually work themselves out about this time or in the next few weeks". Totally agree with you that its going to get done and everything. I think a lot of fans just want to see the whole QB thing settled and done and let's move on to free agency and the draft. Something new to talk about!

Draft is only like 65 days away btw. The only thing I enjoy more than the start of the NFL season.
