Skins FedEx Field game... disappointing in a surprising way?

Post by eryeal »

One thing I've been meaning to ask ... went to the Skins playoff game, and was surprised there was absolutely no pyro, no fireworks, nothing. Went to a Ravens preseason game last year that had tons of pyro, player entrances, and stadium fireworks - and that was just to start a preseason game. What is up with FedEx Field and absolutely nothing going on for the playoffs? Is this normal? Every other game I watch on TV has team intros with a lot of pyro, most of the stadiums have some fireworks, and sometimes other things going on. The Skins have an inflatable helmet and some flags.

... because, repetitive, predictable pyro makes the football so much better...
Really, I don't know anybody that goes to a game for the pyrotechnics... but, yes, there is no pyro at FedEx...

I don't think that's really a valid reason - you can say the same thing about a million different things ... It's a matter of pride and giving the fans a good show. That's like saying you shouldn't complain about parking or traffic, because easy parking and less traffic doesn't make the football so much better. But again, just found it odd that it seems every other team does a bigger spectacle at the team intro to fire up the crowd, but the Skins don't .. was curious if there was some other reason they choose not to do it.

Whatever, dude... it has nothing to do with the game... and has never been required for a demonstration of pride... btw, I don't think the Packers do it either...

Problem... whatever you think about the Danny... being tight is not one of his problems...

Welcome to the board...Heck of a first post  Of all the things to complain about FedEx Field I would put this one way down the list. Was this your first game at FedEx? Because this is the first year I notice that they didn't do it, and to be honest I really didn't notice until I read this. Who knows why, maybe the team didn't want them??

OK we'll agree to disagree I guess - otherwise we'll just keep going around and around in circles. No one ever said it's "required" - cheerleaders aren't required, the band isn't required, etc etc. It was just a question based off of experience in other venues, and thought it to be abnormal, compared to other teams, that the Skins didn't do anything, especially for a playoff game.

In answer to the Packers - pretty sure they do it:

So I guess the question really is why they didn't do anything this year, compared to previous years. Thanks for the graphic.

Yea, I think so because they used to always do it?? I only went to a few games this year and I don't remember any.

Certainly not with FA salaries !!

Every team has the same SALARY Cap... I don't think any of the players checks come out of Danny boys pockets though? The coaching staff is a different story; Or at least that's how I always thought they kept things "fair"

True - but historically, some spent more re-signing good draft picks (eg. Steelers) while we spent big on FAs (Neon D., Adam A., Haynesworthless, etc.).

Meanwhile, the parking lot, etc., sucks.

Danny probably got mad that they wouldn't use his favorite QB and took the fireworks away ....

it's certainly not a $ deal - this guy bought the Redskins for $600M using other peoples money & HIS franchise is now valued at over $1.2B

btw - initially Danny wanted as many seats as he could get at FedEx - is it true that they have reduced the number of seats since then
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Yep. They can't fill 'em.

But if it were worth $1,200,000,000.00 and he spent $10,000 on pyro it would only be worth 1,999,990,000.00.

ahha - slightly off topic but if we keep having playoff games at that joint, I'll bet the new stadium topic comes up again

Hard to fill seats that aren't there anymore, now the ones under the tarps he can fill.
