Steelers-Bengals

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Steelers-Bengals

Post by Deadskins »

The officiating in this game is atrocious! It is so one-sided for Pittsburgh. The hit on Bernard was much more defenseless and helmet to helmet that the call earlier in the game that they gave the Steelers receiver. The Steeler took four steps, saw the hit coming, lowered his head and still only suffered a cursory blow from the shoulder of the Bengals defender. Bernard got speared directly in the helmet as he turned around. Also the Steeler catch for the TD was very acrobatic, but he didn't gain possession until after his first leg was off the ground. That was no catch, and should have been overturned, but wasn't. I'm calling BS.

the officiating this season has been terrible

Bengals making a comeback here
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

The way it ended up was just more of the same. Hill's knee was down before the ball came out. The hit on brown was bang-bang, but probably was a penalty. But then Joey Porter should have been flagged, not Pac-Man putting Pittsburgh back at the original 65 yard FG position. The Refs definitely awarded Pittsburgh this victory. I just hope we don't get the same treatment, but it wouldn't surprise me.

the NFL has to address this - it's so obvious at times it's embarrassing

Wow... angry closet Bengals fans. Replay was not conclusive... but looked to me like ball was coming out. Would have been moot had Hill held the ball with both hands. Burfect cheap shot at end of game was not only uncessesary, but totally selfish and stupid. Adam Jones knows better than to grab a ref. Yes, Porter should have been flagged... but had Burfect pulled up, it doesn't happen, anyway...

Cinncinatti gave the game away... period.

 on the closet Bengals fan. But the late penalties all stemmed from the earlier egregious helmet to helmet hit on Bernard that was not called. Plus the bogus TD "catch" (not that they wouldn't have scored anyway, but...) and the officiating was totally one-sided. The Bengals players had a right to be frustrated. I know I've felt the same way after watching Redskins games where Ed Hoculi is the head ref. All in all, I do agree, though, the Bengals gave this one away.
