Report: RGIII would 'love' to land in Dallas
Sources tell Yahoo's Charles Robinson that Robert Griffin III would "love" to end up with the Cowboys.
It's not exactly a surprise. Griffin is a Texas native, and rather comically, his uncle was spotted on the Dallas sideline Sunday wearing a custom "RGIII" Cowboys jersey. The Redskins hold a $16.2 million team option on Griffin that will either be declined or traded once the new league year begins. RGIII will almost certainly end up a free agent. The Cowboys, who badly need a competent backup for Tony Romo and have an owner obsessed with big names, make a lot of sense.

No surprise: RGIII wants to land in Dallas
Well, well..............is it Good Riddance....? Or do we boot him OUT of the division? We don't want him gunning to beat the Skins.

Re: No surprise: RGIII wants to land in Dallas
RGIII isn't starting ahead of Tony Romo even if he ends up in Dallas. I don't see that as being a concern. It's more about how much he can tell a division opponent about the offensive scheme.

Re: No surprise: RGIII wants to land in Dallas
This article is complete speculation stemmed from a blatant lie
1. who knows where he "wants" to go, before talking money and likely hood of being the day 1 starter 2. the guy was not his uncle.. it was black cowpuke fan who does blogs.
not saying he doesn't end up in Dullass... but I think he is looking for redemption and a starting gig ala Texas, St Louis, Phili, or the Cleveland. just my opinion.

The only way RGIII ends up in Dallas is if he is willing to downgrade himself and try some other position?

Re: No surprise: RGIII wants to land in Dallas
Article aside, it is going to be interesting to see what the market is for RG. I can’t see any team making a commitment to him as their starter; I could see a few teams offering him the opportunity to compete for a starting job. I don’t see the Cowboys being one of those teams; the fact that/if RG would entertain a backup role with the Cowboys speaks volumes about his feeling towards this organization…

I will wish him well, wherever he goes. He has accepted his role this year with grace, and class. He has been supportive of Kirk, and all of his team mates. I would love for him to find a home where he finds success... but I do hope that home is NOT in the NFC East. Bob is one of the good guys.

me too - I hope that he's learned a lot about himself and what he needs to do to become a good NFL QB
the haters would love for him to be a starting QB in the NFC East - what if the haters are wrong?
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I don't really see that. With the exception of C0oley at the end of his career, I can't think of any other player who ever put team loyalty over his career continuing in the NFL.

Not about team loyalty as much as it about sticking it to your former team. He doesn't strike me as that kind of guy...hence the "if" remark in my post. The author of the article admitted that he didn’t talk to RG about this article so take that for what it's worth.

OK, but even "if" he would entertain the offer, I don't think that would "speak volumes" about anything other than his desire to continue to play football in the NFL.

I think that most of us would agree that Robert Griffin III has great character traits - he's obviously had great support and a good solid upbringing - it remains to be seen if he can fulfill his potential in the NFL but I doubt that he will let anyone down
I'd be surprised if he does not handle this next step with class and I doubt that he is on the pukes roster next season

That's not what I said...I said "entertain a back-up role" as oppsosed to going somewhere he could compete as the starter.

I have really gotten a kick out of all the representations of who the RGIII-Cowboys jersey guy was. I have read different stories that it was RGIII's parents, then uncle, then cousins, then a normal fan. It was just some dude that likes RGIII. One of the many reasons I no longer trust anything I read in the media. These days it's either to get clicks or to force that particular publications agenda item down your throat..... no thanks.
As far as a starting gig, I think RGIII'll be hard pressed to find any HC naming him QB1 outright. HCs are not dumb; they've seen the product RGIII has put on the field over the past 2 years. At best he'll get an open competition --- and that wouldn't be in HOU or CLE. IMHO, CLE will draft yet another QB since they are in the position to take the top QB available (if TENN doesn't trade it away); they'll end up with Lynch or Goff --- which I think they'd be happy with. I don't see O'Brien being interested with his OFF; RGIII's strengths don't match up. STL could be the landing spot, but it's a mess; Fisher just fired 5 assistants and is interviewing for a new OC. Fisher's job is in jeopardy so while it's the best opportunity to start, it's probably the worst place in terms of certainty, turnover, or just putting yourself in a position to succeed. Same situation in PHI.
If I were RGIII, I'd be looking to sign a 1-2 year contract with an established team as their #2. Go and REALLY learn the position and EARN the respect of your coaches. Then, once your contract is up, see what opportunities are out there. RGIII isn't like most QBs -- he has a name. If he sits behind a top QB, learns from them and their coach, get the skills he needs --- other GMs and HCs will take notice. Word will get around, and because he is RGIII, he will get a chance at QB1 --- and most likely with a team that will put him in a much better position to succeed than STL or PHI. HCs currently consider him a "project". Take a couple years under (e.g.) Brees/Payton and move on when there a good place to go --- not to a team in limbo or under house fire. If he is patient and willing to look long-term, this is the unquestionable route to pursue. After all, he is only 25; he's got 2-3 years to invest (as long as the NFL will give him that).
I thought NO would be the best place, but saw they've got Grayson and no way they'd put him at #3 for RGIII, so NO is out. If not, AZ, KC, GB, or SEA --- in that order, could be options.
RIP Sean Taylor. You will be missed.

Re: No surprise: RGIII wants to land in Dallas
He's a Texas guy, so you can't entirely pin his interest in Dallas on just wanting to stick it to the Skins.
I agree with what SJ wrote about Griffin's personality. He's had some moments, but for the most part I've never had any problem with his character and definitely give him credit for how he's dealt with this season.
The real test will be what he does and says once he's gone.

OK, if I misunderstood, I apologize. But I will say, the back-up in Dallas, this season, sure did get a lot of starts, and there are no guarantees that he would be getting starting (or open competition) offers elsewhere. Plus there are other considerations, like being near parents' home, $$$, and the talent on the team making the offer, that might enter into the decision.

Griffin will hopefully be going to a franchise that has a much better organization than we had here his first few years
I doubt that Dallas is on this list but ... his future as a QB will mostly depend on himself and can he take what he's learned this past season and show on the field that he can be the QB that many of us think he can be - it's not a given by any stretch ...

No apologies necessary...All the reason you listed are valid, I was just making the comment that IF he chose to go there as the backup over another team where he could be the starter IMO in might be personal for him?? It's not like they are developing QB's down there...Yes the backups played alot...did you notice how they played??

Re: No surprise: RGIII wants to land in Dallas
I hope Griffin goes to Dallas, I would be delighted. I have such enthusiasm for this prospect I hope it not only happens but Jerry Jones fully commits to it and forces his coach to declare Robert the starter before camp in year 1 and repeats this in year 2 and 3 before finally deciding to compete the job by giving Robert all the starter reps during the camp in year 4 and saying its his job to lose. I would love to have the Cowboys do this because I'm confident the results would please me.
Sadly, I don't think this will happen. Jerry Jones has said favorable things about Robert over the years because I suspect he knows that pleases the portion of the Cowboy base that are Baylor fans and he's probably enjoyed nurturing Dan Snyder's RGIII fantasy. I will be surprised if One Read Robert is invited to take his game to Dallas.
I think Jones is going to look to draft a QB with some pocket potential if not proven skills this year because he knows Romo is near the end of his run and its time to get the next guy. Jones might make a major play for Cousins if for no other reason than to make the Skins pay more for Kirk but I doubt Jones will wastes time with a novelty act like Griffin that a portion of his base will clamor to see but Jones probably believes doesn't process fast enough to play QB in the league. Maybe I'm wrong but I would be surprised.

Maybe Griffin will shock me and become a competent pocket passing QB in the NFL and if it happens I'll be surprised and happy for him and for his devoted supporters like you SJ. You have been the most devoted and faithful of the Griffin supporters and I think I've been the biggest Cousins booster on this board. Not that this counts for anything and two guys are a small sample but at least for the moment I think I have a much better eye for QB talent than you. Unless he does a real 180 and develops into a real NFL QB I'm the guy who saw Griffin for what he is not what you and many hoped he would be for the Skins.
