Hognostication Playoffs 2016 - Wild Card Round

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Hognostication Playoffs 2016 - Wild Card Round

Post by Deadskins »

Welcome to the Hognostication playoffs for the 2015-2016 NFL season. First, let me say congratulations to Burgundy&GoldForever. Great year! You were at the top or very near the entire season. Here are the final scores, for the record:

Code: Select all

1 Michael Stahl 167
2 SkinsJock 161
3 ACW 158
4 Hi Im CKRgiii 156
5 1niksder 152
6 DarthMonk 150
7 Countertrey 148
8 Deadskins 146
9 David Lyne 145
10 tribeofjudah 143
11 REDEEMEDSKIN 139
12 Justice Hog 120

Here's how the Hognostication Playoffs work:

Once again, we are going to have a tournament of these 12 players. The top four seeds get a bye. This week, 12 will play at 5, 11 @ 6, 10 @ 7, and 9 @ 8. Every subsequent week, the contestants will be reseeded based on the previous week's results. Home field advantage is given by making the visiting team pick first. There will be two deadlines for getting picks in, one for the visitors and one for the home team. This week the visitors' deadline is 12:00 NOON, EST on Thursday. You are picking the winner of each game, and a point total for the entire weekend. Once a visitor has made his picks, he can change his picks as often as he'd like, up until the home team has made their picks. The home team can not make their picks until the visiting team has done so, or the visiting team's deadline has passed. Once the home team has picked, the visiting team's picks are locked, EVEN IF THE VISITORS' DEADLINE HAS NOT PASSED. The home team's picks don't lock until five minutes before the first game of the weekend (the home team's deadline). The home team's total score prediction can not be an even number difference from the visiting team's total. (Visitors say 121, home team can't say 123. This way, no ties) Whole numbers only.

Here are the games to be Hognosticated this weekend:

SATURDAY, JANUARY 9TH

KC (11-5) @ HOU (9-7) 4:35PM ET
PIT (10-6) @ CIN (12-4) 8:15PM ET

SUNDAY, JANUARY 10TH

SEA (10-6) @ MIN (11-5) 1:05PM ET
GB (10-6) @ WAS (9-7) 4:40PM ET

Good luck to everyone, and happy Hognosticating!

So, to reiterate, if the home team REALLY wanted to be a [Richard], they could make their picks IMMEDIATELY after the visiting team, and then change them

Yes, and I hope vwoodzpusha actually gets off the team bus this year. I don't deserve a first round bye.

Thanks for putting this together again - I had forgotten that there were a number of no-shows last year

hopefully all of the players show up this year - after all ... any given Sunday
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

So, being a "[Richard]" doesn't equate to being a bad thing? I just don't understand why it's being a "[Richard]" to play by the rules.

Reminder:

12:00 NOON EST, TODAY, IS THE VISITING TEAMS' DEADLINE TO GET THEIR PICKS IN. Once this deadline passes, the home team can make their picks at any time (up until 4:30 PM EST, Saturday) and lock in the victory, unopposed. If both teams fail to enter picks, then there will be a double elimination from the tournament, and the top seed(s) will get an extra bye in the Divisional round.

Well, the last time vwoodzpusha posted at THN was Thu Mar 13, 2014 1:31 pm, so I'm not holding out great hope that he is going to show up now. That said, I will wait until tomorrow to make my picks, just because I'd rather not win by forfeit.

Good luck to everyone, and happy Hognosticating!

My 4 picks are in bold yellow above.

Let's call the point total 170.

PS - I think the visitor should be forced to predict a point total with a 1/2 point in it. Otherwise, he could nail the exact number before the home team picks.
