What about THIS guy?! **Rookie of the Week!!!

Post by cowboykillerzRGiii »

Preston Smith.

Smith has been gradually getting better and better...

Smith has brought powerful nastiness to our pass rush, and in defeating the Fecals for he NFC East crown, was able to bring down Bradford THREE times!! His sack total now sky rocketed up to 7 on the year, and I think he will add to that count into the playoffs and beyond!

HAIL!!!

He had a great game Saturday and has improved all season. He and Murphy have provided a nice secondary pass rush to go along with Kerrigan on the other side.

Preston Smith getting better. If you notice he has had his hand in the dirt more often than not lately. He's really more of a natural hand in dirt guy than a stand up finesse rusher. It also appears they have decreased his assignments and have him in the zone less.

Despite not being a full-time starter... Smith leads all rookie pass rushers going into the final game of the season. A pretty good stat from our 2nd round pick. Especially after Scot was berated for skipping out on some of the bigger name guys in the 1st round.
The road to the number 1 pick gaining speed!

I dunno... THIS guy probably deserves his own thread too...

But, Foster?! Guy seems to be EVERYWHERE!!

I imagine he is an ILB? Starter?? I saw Riley was on the inactive report, didn't notice who started opposite Compton- I'd imainge Robinson?

Coaching long ago voiced the expectation that Preston Smith would grow into his role as a pass rusher, and that his ceiling was higher than folks thought.

Seems they were on to something.

Foster has been a delight to watch... seems he is making the most of his chance.

You like that ... we love that

BIG congrats to Preston
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance

Different positions though. You really can't compare. They do like Leonard Williams and think he is going to be pretty good so far but to me he was a guy that was a bit overrated and became a hype machine.

Now you CAN compare Preston Smith to Orakpo! Smith beat him out in sacks by 1. 8 to 7. :D

I really liked Leonard Williams in the draft, though I preferred Scherff.

Gotta keep in mind that Williams was a junior going into the draft too. Still young and will have some learning to do. I still expect we'll be hearing more about him over the next several years.

Smith was a good draft pick no doubt, but I think it is hard to compare the stats of a reserve OLB and starting DE both in 3-4 DEFs as the pure determinable to see which had a better season.

One thing is definitely for sure ---- they both finished out the year strong. I don't think Williams was a bad choice. After all, he was 5th in the NFL is total tackles for DEs this year. And sacks are harder to come by for DEs in the 3-4.... Almost all high production DEs play in 4-3s, the only exceptions are Cox and Watt (who (1) is unreal and (2) moves around a TON and plays LB at times).
RIP Sean Taylor. You will be missed.
