One of only two top 10 fantasy efforts since the AFL/NFL merger to take place in the 70’s decade, Brown’s four touchdown, 265-total yard performance against Philly was most noteworthy for the running backs’ work in the passing game.

Brown took each of his three catches to the end zone, scoring on catches of 64, 27 and 14 yards. Brown also added an eight-yard rushing score to close out a Redskins’ 38-20 victory. For those few fantasy leaguers of the time, like the founding fathers of fantasy football, the Greater Oakland Professional Pigskin Prognosticators League, Week 14 was very likely championship week (since the regular season was just 14 weeks at the time), and there’s a good chance Brown’s performance was a key component for some of those who won fantasy titles in ’73.
