AGREED - Scot has done very well for us - there were so many areas of need that it would be hard to not have done well but Scot and the FO have really shown how badly this franchise has been managed for so many years

Yeah no doubt he's smart enough to value the guys on the line. But he did draft Michael Crabtree at #10 a few years ago.

He does seem to value big, nasty players which is cool. I just think he's shown from his record that he's good at finding guys who can play football and doesn't seem to care about the conventional wisdom. Like CLL wrote, I'm not expecting to see him pick any Malcolm Kelly's.

I agree with this, but he did come out and say he was going to pick Amari Cooper if he feel to us at #5 in this past draft.

When you have a chance to take a real impact player in the draft you have to take him. I think Amari Cooper has about the same amount of production this year as DJax and Garcon combined! haha.

I do think the Redskins could benefit from a fast tall down the field threat. I dunno if I would want to spend the first round pick on a tall receiver though. Maybe one's available latter in the draft or the Skins can get a big play big guy in FA.

Management knows the story about him better than us it bugs me when a guy misses some of the preseason workouts and gets hurt early in the year.

To your point, I'll be curious to see if he changes his approach to the offseason next year after the hamstring injury. As players get older, definitely need to start taking conditioning even more seriously.

That's because he's talented enough to find talent at any position, at any position in the draft. He's truly able to go BPA because he can find other areas of need in the latter rounds.

An Amari Cooper sized/gifted receiver in this offense would immediately send into the stratosphere.

I wouldn't call Niles, Paulsen or any of our other IR TE's redzone threats. Reed is the only one. We'll see about this new kid, he's 6 foot 6 inches or so.

Niles Paul should be a red zone threat. Carrier should be one as well. Paulsen, not so much.

When a guy shows up out of shape it bugs me too..

Only Djax didn't. He also has his own training regime, which is not something he can get from our staff. The fast feet, quick reflex drills... Are exactly why he is the playmaker he is. It pays dividends when he is healthy, so why change it?

HIS injury was that of the "freak" nature.. running into a piece of equipment can hardly be contributed to his not making optional training camps.

Plus his girl was mad preggo, with my wife about to pop- I already know where I'd be too.

In his first mock draft of the year, CBSSports.com’s Rob Rang thinks the Redskins – currently pegged with the No. 22 overall pick – will take University of Alabama inside linebacker Reggie Ragland.

“Washington is surrendering 4.8 yards per carry on the ground, 31st in the NFL. The Crimson Tide, on the other hand, are among the stoutest run defenders in the country with Ragland playing a starring role. General manager Scot McCloughan might see Ragland as able to provide an immediate impact similar to the one Patrick Willis made when Washington's top scout was heading up the 49ers front office,” Rang writes.

Ragland, a senior out of Madison, Ala., was selected as a unanimous first-team All-American and was also selected as a member of the SEC First Team by conference coaches and The Associated Press.

In 13 games to date, Ragland has accumulated a career-high 51 tackles with six passes defensed, 2.5 sacks and two fumbles forced.

Against the University of Tennessee earlier this year, Ragland made a season-high 12 tackles.

If McCloughan likes him enough, I'd have no problem seeing them bring in a beast at ILB.

ESPN 980 has been doing this morning Redskins show all week. Part of the show is "Redskins Rewind" where they've reviewed all of the wins. Really struck me how hugely important Jordan Reed has been this season. I knew it, but going back over each game, its kind of mind blowing. He's *nearly* become as important to the Skins as Gronk is to the Pats.

I posted that comment in this thread just to say, MAN, I hope McCloughan has been scouting TEs closely. I'd feel a lot better next year knowing we have some quality depth behind Reed.

Yeah looks that way currently. We moved down to #25 winning the division.

NESN gave us this guy in their draft yesterday:

25. Washington Redskins (9-7): Jarran Reed, DT, Alabama Reed commands double teams and shows decent athleticism for a man his size. The Redskins could use a defensive tackle with those skills after giving up the second-most rushing yards per game and per attempt.

Although he said he will return to Baylor for his senior season, Billings is playing himself into a high draft pick and plans might change. The Redskins have used veterans to fill the nose tackle spot, but Billings would give them a long-term option.

I'd be happy with d-line in the first round either way.

Would make sense. Its too bad about Pot Roast though. I like him and I think he's been a good addition to that group. That d-line group has really led the team in a lot of ways IMO.

But you're right that he hasn't really performed where I'd expect the team to pay him a bunch to keep him around.
