Herzog: "Touchdown, Washington Redskins!"

Post by Irn-Bru »

I loved watching Frank call this game tonight. I'm fairly young, so I've only got about 10 years (or so) with memories of hearing Sonny and Sam; and I know that we've already had our big reactions to Frank being let go, but I just want to say one more time that I'm going to miss his voice.

Both of the times that the Redskins scored tonight, I was really hoping to hear "Touchdown, Wwaashington Redskins!", but both times it didn't come.

At the end of the post-game coverage, Bostic was standing there with Herzog, and said to him: "So Frank, do you think you could give us one last 'Touchdown, Washington Redskins'?"

His reply, with a smile: "No, Bostic, that era is over."

It's a sad thing that it really is over.

But all good things come to an end--Hail to the Redskins!! :celebrate:

I said the same thing to my wife tonight... I wish Herzog and Bostic could call all the Skins games.... They were pretty entertaining.... Way more than George Michael

I agree with both of You guys. Watching the way the Skin's dominated and hearing Franks voice brought back a lot of good memories.

I totally agree, I do enjoy Frank's views of the game.
I know this sounds awful, but I can't listen to the games on the radio because of Sam Huff. I admire him for his game on the field, but I get a better insight on the game talking to my dog rather than listening to him.

(not a sermon, just a thought) ;)

I didn't realize how much I missed Frank untill I heard him calling the plays on Saturday. You can tell he really enjoys doing it. By the way it's Larry Michael, not George Michael. George does the local NBC sports show.

Oh yeah, "Touchdown, Washington Redskins"...noone says it like Frank.

George Michael DID do the preseason games for the 4-5 years that Channel 4 had the preseason games. And he was putrid -- many levels below the sewage that is his nightly sportscast.

I noted the same thing about Frank after the first touchdown. He low-keyed it so much it was obvious he was avoiding his signature TD call.

I can see his point. This game was a one-time deal. I was hoping he'd get the call for the other two games after Mike Patrick had his bypass.

My fondest memories growing up were hearing my dad and Frank Herzog simultaneously say "Touchdown WWAAAshington Redskins". It was heart braking to me to know that I'll never hear it again.
