Will Compton
Looks like he’s played his way into the starting lineup. Gruden just said he would image him being one of the two inside guys when Robinson gets back…so who’s the odd man out??

Re: Will Compton
If that is truly the case, it would mean Riley is out of the lineup as a starter. I have noticed that Compton has gotten increasing minutes over the course of this year.
Not sure I agree with the move, but Compton is 4th in tackles this year.

Re: Will Compton
Keenan Robinson would be the odd man out from what I've read.
“He was at that time the smartest player in the league. We did everything we could to try to eliminate him from the play. We knew if we didn’t neutralize him, then we had less of a chance of winning.” - John Hannah on Chris Hanburger
Re: Will Compton
Riley made some great plays yesterday, veteran plays at the right time. He an Compton will be a formidable pair. Robinson has been playing with a chip on his shoulder this year, I'd like to see him rechannel his enthieusasm into intelligent plays.

That would be very surprising to me. Most of the criticism of the LBs lately has been about Riley. Didn't he play 49 snaps or something like that vs. the Pats with no tackles?

I don't actually expect Compton to take anyone's job. I expect a rotation. Robinson is actually the only linebacker with more tackles than Compton. Riley, Murphy, and Kerrigan all have fewer tackles. Even Preston Smith has more tackles than Murphy. There's a player I don't expect to be on the roster next season.

True, but only two of those guys are going to be starters among Riley, Compton and Robinson. I think that's what is being discussed. I would have thought it would be Robinson/Compton. Guess we'll see though.
The inside linebackers are going to have more tackles than the OLBs. Just more plays coming there way both in the run game and passing. That's not really surprising.

Re: Will Compton
I think many at this board were hoping Riley got replaced prior to the start of the season. One interception does not make for a whole body of evidence. Riley is weak against the pass, with the interception being considered, and he isn't holding up that well against the run. I like the idea of Robinson and Compton. Now get Galette back at a low cost next year, with the 2 game suspension behind him, and a whole season/off-season of rehab, and let the fun begin.

That would be odd considering how many consider him to be our best defensive player this year. He is second on the team in tackles and is all over the field. The coaches appear to be high on Compton, so I'd think Riley would be out. I just don't see Robinson being benched if he is truly 100% healthy; could very well be wrong though.

Re: Will Compton
This comment from PFF sums up what I have seen this year. Compton would replace Riley.
– This was a huge game for LB Perry Riley (+3.0), who was named PFF’s worst inside linebacker of the first half of the season just last week.
