Ty Nsekhe?
So Trent Williams is apparently out for the game vs. the Jets on Sunday. Anybody have any comments on Ty Nsekhe? I'm a little blown away that a guy who has never started an NFL game is going to start at left tackle for us. Hopefully Bill Callahan knows what he's doing there.
I kinda thought we would have seen Moses move to LT with Compton back in at RT. Maybe better not to disrupt both sides of the line though if you don't have to?
Korey is out too with LeRib filling in. Bad week for the offensive line to fall apart like this.

Looks like DEHog and I were posting similar thoughts at the same time if you want to merge these threads btw.

I guess he played Arena ball?? Could be a long day..Jets may have the best D-Line out there not that they have Richardson back.

This is the NFL - when starters go down back-ups step up and show that they can play ...
plus ... we've got a guy behind center that's had 5 weeks against some pretty tough defensive lines and he gets rid of the ball quickly
this is Kirk's opportunity to show everyone how effective he can be under pressure

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Re: Ty Nsekhe?
Don't know of him, but I am starting to get a lot of faith in Callahan. I'll trust his judgement. He says Ty is ready to go, let it happen.

There is a rumor that "Ty" is Brooklyn slang for "turnstile"
Like I said... It's a rumor...

I'll give you this, SJ. It will be a real opportunity to compare Cousins v. what we saw from Griffin the preseason when Williams was out. Griffin took a brutal beating that game, and all we heard was that it was because Trent was out.
We all know that Cousins has been better at getting the ball out quickly. The question is going to be can he get it out quickly without throwing eight INTs. HUGE test for Cousins Sunday. Revis and Cromartie in the secondary? Damn. Good luck, Kirk.

Re: Ty Nsekhe?
There's no doubt that we are very lucky that Captain Kirk is playing QB because the Griffin that we saw in the pre season was not ready to play QB and especially not without Trent Williams against this NY Jets defense - that being said, hopefully Captain Kirk does not turn the ball over because that is not what this offense needs
Griffin is not playing QB here, Captain Kirk is and he needs to step up big time or we need to think about giving McCoy a shot
justifying bad QB play by comparing Captain Kirk and Griffin is stupid and absolutely pointless except if you're a hater
we absolutely do not need to keep turning the ball over on offense OR continue to see stupid penalties by the offense

This isn't a fair game to evaluate him by any stretch. Down multiple o-line starters (including the most critical one), DJax (of course), Jordan Reed, maybe Matt Jones. At full strength, I would have a lot more faith in the Skins. As depleted as they are, I'm starting to think this will be a demolition by the Jets.

I like what Joe B said about his side of the ball. We could use that same thought process for the Oline.

+1
No one was talking about injuries when we had eleven players on IR two weeks ago. People like to act like injuries is making excuses. Now we have 33% of the players who were supposed to start this season not suiting up for this game. That next man up rhetoric is crap when the next man up has to replace a multiple pro bowl left tackle, the league's leading tight end, the best deep threat in the game, etc. They're backups because they're not as good as the players they're backing up.
Having said that I'd let Nsekhe's man come upfield and keep dumping screen passes or delayed runs to the hole he leaves until they stop pass rushing every down. I firmly believe our offense is designed to cause teams to die by the blitz.

Re: Ty Nsekhe?
OK - maybe you don't think that how Captain Kirk plays in that game is important - I can guarantee that he did not feel like he played well today and anybody with any sense at all knows what we saw today - that was horrible and it had absolutely nothing to with Trent Williams not being out there or any other offensive player not being available
this was just another game where Captain Kirk CLEARLY shows he's not a good starting QB

I haven't gotten to look at the replays... But this kid seemed pretty damned effective... I noticed he had some TE help early, but, that went away pretty quick... Another Bit of gold from Scot?

I was gonna say the same thing.. he seemed to hold the fort down pretty well in Trents absence. Luckily Willie Smith was shown the door, that guy is Russian for "Rush in"!!

Re: Ty Nsekhe?
Yes, Nsekhe actually played pretty well yesterday, as did LeRibeus. At least in pass protection. In the run game? Not so much.
