Chris Culliver, the Redskins’ top cornerback, did not practice and is having an MRI done on his injured knee. He played through pain against the Eagles last Sunday and he clearly was not at his best, particularly as the game wore on.
“It was uncomfortable for him in the game,” said Redskins coach Jay Gruden. “He relies very heavily on his flexibility and his speed. It didn't feel right for him throughout the whole game and he just didn't feel like he played up to his capabilities.”
Gruden used the three letters you don’t want to hear when you need somebody who is capable of covering Jones.
“He wants to get it checked out; we want to get him checked out,” said Gruden. “We want to make sure it's healthy; he wants to be 100 percent. He'll continue to get rehab, he'll have an MRI today and see where it's at and see what he can do, hopefully, at the end of the week.”

Re: Culliver Has MRI
Can anyone say they're comfortable with the idea of "next man up" covering Julio Jones?

Re: Culliver Has MRI
This sucks but if he is not healthy then why risk it. Get surgery if need be, take time to get healthy and let the next guy up take the reins

More comfortable than an injured and underperforming Culliver trying to stay with Jones.

Good point. Still, no one has even been able to contain Jones this season, to say nothing of actually stopping him. I'm not digging this matchup. Hankerson, on the other hand, doesn't scare me. And to hell with him for never playing for us the way he's playing for Atlanta.

This is good reason for Kerrigan & Co. to step up a notch, Julio won't be a threat if the QB is on his back.

Odd. NFL.com has him listed as DNP. http://www.nfl.com/injuries

It will be tough for sure covering Jones. If we can just stop him in the read zone we will be alright though. Hankerson played for us that way too it was just that he always got injured whenever he got any momentum. So far he is healthy and they are giving him an opportunity. I'm not mad at the Redskins for letting him go though because a player need to be available and someone you can count on. Which is why I find it very interesting that we didn't put any strong emphasis in bringing more TE's this year to supplant Jordan Reed.
