Shaun Lauvao Out For The Season

Post by Burgundy&GoldForever »

Placed On IR. LeRibeus isn't the answer, so let's hope Long or Kouandjio can step in.

Lauvao was actually playing a lot better this season than he did last season. Callahan must have coached him up.

Sprained ankle --> IR? That seems crazy. I'm assuming it was something worse than a sprain.

Well this year is going to be what it is. I wouldn't be disappointed if they decide to plug Kouandjio in there and let him take his lumps.

This team is compiled with injuries right now and everyone talking about us sticking with the run remains to be seen with a key starter on the O-line gone for the season. I guess we will see how the other rookie AK handles this duty because I think that is exactly what SM wants Gruden to do. This season unfortunately is a mess for us already but like I have stated before, I like what the GM is doing with the team, the moves that have been made and Gruden is definitely being evaluated. Our secondary is depleted and I think it's gonna be another long season for us but the future is looking up depending on what SM does with Gruden after this season.

even with injuries, which is what happens in the NFL, a 6-8 win season is what we've always thought was OK

more importantly, we need to see evidence that Scot is FULLY in charge here and that is not a "for sure" at this time - I've always felt that Gruden's job was his to earn - how he handles this season, despite the record, is very important - jury is still out on that as well
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I agree with you on that, SJ. Last year I didn't believe it was possible to fairly evaluate Gruden for a number of reasons. This year, the roster still isn't perfect, but it looks more like what most of the other coaches in the NFL have at their disposal. Gruden needs to show that he is up to the task of getting the most out of his players. That doesn't necessarily mean wins all the time IMO, but I want to see the team looking prepared and battling every week.

If I am not mistaken I read that Lavauo is designated to return which I believe they plan on bringing him back when he is healthy.

If I am not mistaken its not season ending IR. Not sure about the IR and how it works but I did read on NFL network it stated he was designated to return.

Can anybody confirm that? CSN reported the other day:

Redskins place starting LG on season-ending IR
http://www.csnmidatlantic.com/redskinsb ... ed-reserve
Starting left guard Shawn Lauvao has been placed on season-ending injured reserve because of the ankle injury he suffered Sunday, the team announced Tuesday afternoon.

Tarik El-Bashir is usually pretty reliable.

Lauvao was playing lights out for us. Huge loss but we still can recover we have some depth at G.
