Clinton Portis is a product of a system that produced 4 different 1200 or more yard rushers in 9 straight years, and yet you pay 50 mil, to an undersized, 18-carry, injury prone running back!!!! Good move.

You're welcome! We're always willing to help those less fortunate than us. You enjoy Champ, and we'll be just fine with our $50 million, overpaid, under-sized back.

By the way, Timmy Smith was a product of a pretty good offensive line too. Do you remember him? He happened to come out of nowhere to run for 206 years against your wonderful team in the Super Bowl. Of course, you may not have noticed since you were distracted by that 40-year old retread Doug Williams who threw 5 touchdowns that game too.

Thank you for the 3rd runner in NFL history to have 3000 yards in his first 2 years.

While I'm at it thank you for the 42 points back in 87.

Thank you for the super bowl ring.

Thank you for the win from the last time we played in the regularseason.

Thank you for the win last monday.

Thank you for showing us how good Sean Taylor is.

Even if he was a product of your system, all that means is that he will be a factor of the Joe Gibbs system this year. Your system is not the only one who can get a back 12-1500 yards.

Man, why do you have to bring up old crap? And if Gibbs plans on using Portis the counter-tre, Portis will not rush for 1500. Portis is a runner that hits the whole fast and then breaks outside. Shanahan tried to change him when he was making 400K, do you think Gibbs is going to change him now? Meanwhile, if you don't have a good passing game, NFC teams will just put the 8th man in the box and Portis is once again in effective. Should watch the Indy play off game, the KC 5th week game... I can not pound the ball nor control the clock, he goes down easy too. I will bet Portis runs for less than 1000 and plays merely 75% of the games. I will be paying attention though, just like when Denver traded Olandis Gary after he ran for 1300 yards, a few years ago. Hey do you want Mike Anderson for Arington?

Have fun in a few years when Champ Bailey is the only man on your roster because he's salary is going to get ridiculous. I guess he'll get his wish then, he'll be on offense and defense.

Elway07.

Maybe someday you'll get a shut down corner on your team. If you think it's Bailey, you're dead wrong. Look at the film from last year and you will see him, over and over again, get beat like a wet towel.

OMG This is one of the most hilarious posts that I have ever seen!! ROTFALMAO ROTFALMAO ROTFALMAO

Man that made my day.

Man, why do you have to bring up old crap?

1. we gave you the whoopin of a life time in that superbowl.

2. The other stuff happened a few days ago.

And if Gibbs plans on using Portis the counter-tre, Portis will not rush for 1500

You question Joe Gibbs? Mike Shannahan can not even question Gibbs let alone you, or me or anyone else.

Portis is a runner that hits the whole fast and then breaks outside. Shanahan tried to change him when he was making 400K, do you think Gibbs is going to change him now?

That's the thing we don't want him to change. Joe Gibbs is all about running the football. He has one before with backs a lot smaller than Portis, as a matter of fact he beat you with a back a lot smaller than portis.

Meanwhile, if you don't have a good passing game, NFC teams will just put the 8th man in the box and Portis is once again in effective

ROTFALMAO ROTFALMAO ROTFALMAO OK stop it, please you're killing me.

Laveraneus Coles, Rod Gardner, Darnerian McCants, James Thrash, and Taylor Jacobs. Put that with 2 qb's like Ramsey and Brunnell. Not to mention Joe Gibbs' background from the Air Coryell offense, we've got more weapons than the Air Force

Should watch the Indy play off game, the KC 5th week game... I can not pound the ball nor control the clock, he goes down easy too. I will bet Portis runs for less than 1000 and plays merely 75% of the games.

That is just your opinion. From what I hear from every sports writer, and Clinton Portis himslf he will be even better.

We don't need him to pound the ball that is what we have rock cartwright for.

I will be paying attention though, just like when Denver traded Olandis Gary after he ran for 1300 yards, a few years ago. Hey do you want Mike Anderson for Arington?

No but I bet you might want to trade your whole team back for clinton in 05

Wow some much crap to respond to I am a bit dizzy. Let me give it a shot.

1) Oh yeah I am questioning Gibbs, when he tries to use the coounter-tre with Portis, or thinks he is going to use Portis to rush the football more than 18 carries a game. Obviously, either Gibbs has lost his mind, or that brilliant owner of yours is pulling those strings. If the game plan goes accordingly, I will be sure to check in with you about week 5. Because Portis will not be in the line up, but on the IR by then. This much I can promise you.

2) The last time the Denver Broncos went 0-2 in the preseason they won the Super Bowl--So I'd say it is treating me kinda nice. I believe in Karma, don't you?

3) You act as if I have never watched Bailey play football. Not only did I watch him in the pros, but since I went to the same college as Bailey, I watched him play his whole college career too. A guy who has yet to miss a game in his pro career, and brings the ability to not only take the opponent's best receiver out of the game, but also allow the Bronx to rush the QB, and use complex coveage schemes in the rest of the secondary--Yes he is worth the money. In fact worth more, if you look at what Ty Law and Chris McCalister brought to thier defenses, i.e. Super Bowls.

3) Don't talk to Denver about 'dead money' when you pay a 3rd year, undersized running back who is the last of a long line of runners from Denver 50 mil. That is the definition of 'dead money'. Shanahan did not think twice about pulling the Portis trade trigger--why do you think that is, since Portis was asking Denver to make him the highest paid back in the game? I know you will find out about week 5 or 6, and well the Redskins should had watch more tapes on Portis beside the SportCenter highlights.LMAO!

4) Who wants to bet that Griffin pulls in more yards than Portis this year?
Portis:
Game 1-- 4 carries for 11 yards
Game 2-- 5 carries for 15 yards

Griffin:
Game 1--6 carries for 44 yards
Game 2--9 carries for 63 yards

Anyone?...Anyone?....

5) Like I said at the beginning of this post, Thank You Very Much Miss Lippy!!!!!

Another thing, if you would have watched the Bronco v. Bills preseason last weekend. You would have saw Bledsoe not even look at Bailey, and the coverage scheme in the middle and opposite side forcing him to take more time to make sure his 2nd and 3rd receiver were not in double or even triple coverages. Result: 3 series, 2 sacks, and an interception.

See the Redskins had no idea how to effectively use a d-back like Bailey. I don't know why, I mean NE and Baltimore are near by, and yet you still never learned how to use one. Well, pay attention to the Broncos this year and learn something.

Not knowing what he is talking about, Elway07 writes about champ...he:
brings the ability to not only take the opponent's best receiver out of the game....

You see? This is my exact point! If you really believe Champ still is shutting down his opponent's best receiver, then you haven't been watching him play lately. His most recent performance suggests he is playing like a CB of mediocre talent.

Does he have the talent to be an exceptional CB? Absolutely! Does he have the skill/potential to shut down the opponent's best receiver? Absolutely!

Has he been doing so in the past two years? Absolutely NOT!

well, i guess we'll see who got the best end of the trade in the next couple years...BUT i guarantee you that there are more skins fans that are happy with trade than bronco fans...remember we got shawn springs and portis for less $$$$ than you guys are paying chump...i say that gives the early edge to the skins

Wow some much crap to respond to I am a bit dizzy. Let me give it a shot.

Well I knew you were dizzy, by your first few post.

Ok lets see. You say Portis gets 18 carries a game. Put that with his 5.5 yards per carry average, and you get close to 100 yards a game. That means that will put him at about 1600 yards for the season. I bet you can't find one redskin fan on this board that will be dissapointed if portis has 1500-1600 yards.

Now take those 18 carries and put them with Griffin's 3.7 yards a carry. And you get just barley over 1000. Which today mans nothing.

Second. You act like we don't already have a runing back to get those 3rd and 1's, and to pound all dya long. That's what my boy rock cartwright is for. Not to mention Ladell Betts when he gets healthy.

2) The last time the Denver Broncos went 0-2 in the preseason they won the Super Bowl--So I'd say it is treating me kinda nice. I believe in Karma, don't you?

Are you hnestly trying to brag because you lost your first 2 preseason games. Next week, we will here " We lost 3 in a row we are unstopable.

Obviously you did noit see champ last year. I love Champ, but he was in no way close to his old form. As much as I would like to think. He was burned by second rate and even 3rd rate recievers. Let me name a few. Amani Toomer, Ike Hilliard, Josh reed, Bobby Shaw, Koren Robinson, Steve Smith, Marcus Robinson.

That is a long list for a "shutdowm corner" . He was burned by all these people mukltiple times, except for booker, because he got a concussion on the play in which he was burned.

How can you say anything about undersized backs when you have the smallest starting running back in the league. He pulled he trigger because our 2nd round pick was also involved.

4) Who wants to bet that Griffin pulls in more yards than Portis this year?
Portis:
Game 1-- 4 carries for 11 yards
Game 2-- 5 carries for 15 yards

Griffin:
Game 1--6 carries for 44 yards
Game 2--9 carries for 63 yards

Anyone?...Anyone?....

It's preseason. Our 5th string running back is looking in preseason. Anybody can. The truth is that he only had a 3.7 yard average.

Last year, Smoot was the best cover corner on the Skins' roster.

The Skins had to trade Champ because he didn't want to play for them. Getting a top 5 RB at the beginning of his career in return for a player they couldn't sign is pretty darn good.

Would Gibbs prefer to have a RB like Stephen Davis (thank you Spurrier) rather than Portis? Maybe. Have we seen 5% of how Gibbs will use Portis this season yet? No. From training camp visits, Portis will be highly utilized as a receiver, which we haven't seen at all during the pre-season games.

And you make it sound like the counter-trey is the only running play Gibbs has. You're a joke if you think that. Gibbs revolutionized the running game in the '80s. His schemes are still used by St.Louis, KC, and Minnesota -- 3 of the most powerful offenses in the game right now. Portis will thrive.
