Dexter Manley: A Football Life

Post by Burgundy&GoldForever »

NFL Network Friday, September 25th, 9:00pm EST

Should be worth recording.
“He was at that time the smartest player in the league. We did everything we could to try to eliminate him from the play. We knew if we didn’t neutralize him, then we had less of a chance of winning.” - John Hannah on Chris Hanburger

Meant to post this earlier in the week. Manley was one of my favorite players back in the day. It was like if he really wanted to, he was getting to the QB, and could not be blocked (maybe it was the coke). The only Redskin with an engine like that since was Sean Taylor.

You do a nice job of keeping us informed of everything Skins. You're entitled to forget something once in a while. I still wonder to this day how good Manley would have been without the drug problem, just as I wonder how good Len Bias would have been. At least we saw glimpses of Manley's talent. He was Lawrence Taylor but unlike Taylor, he had to engage a blocker on every down. I also think Joe Gibbs saved his life more than once but I'm sure the documentary will get into that.

this is not helpful ... I'm sure that Dexter knew this would be poster board material before the Redskins game ...

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
