Lets take it a game at a time

Post by EA7649 »

Dallas 2-0
Washington 1-1
New York 0-2
Philadelphia 0-2

Okay, we see the current standings. Dallas is having injury issues Dez and Romo.
Philadelphia offense is looking pathetic.
New York is win-less, but I think they are an okay team.

That leaves Washington, we have oline, qb, secondary, and special team issues (new kicker seems to have some power with his kick at least)
I think its important for them as players and us as fans to take it one game at a time. In 2012 it wasn't even thought of us winning the division after a 3-6 start. Lets hope to see good game management by Kirk keeping his confidence up not trying to do too much, sticking to the run with Morris and Jones, improvement from young players and the o-line with our great o-line coach, defensive improvement (The quality depth on the d-line seems to be very valuable), rest of the defense play as best to their skill level and keep us in games.

Humbly optimistic. Now its on the Skins to see if they can take advantage.

How much a week can change things... Be awesome to steam roll NYG on Thursday, but I'll be happy with a well fought battle.

Dullass is done, and the fecals are proving Jabba the hut Kelly is indeed an utter buffoon, not the evil genius he thought he was.

I can dig it!

If the Skins beat the Giants on Thursday, the division is over and Redskins will walk away with it. Book it.

Gruden is going to be doing so much winning with Cuz at QB that we'll get bored of winning.

I wouldn't book it. But I think it could put us on a good flow. The Cowboys rely on their run game a lot now so maybe the two injuries aren't killer.

Even if we lose that game, as long as its close and not like last year. It will be positive.

Agree. I'm feeling better with a win than I did before kickoff yesterday. It wasn't just the win, but it was the way the O-Line handled a VERY GOOD defensive line. Because of the O-Line and our D-Line, we'll be in every game this season. One game at a time is the mantra. Continue to build. Stay focused. Stay humble. Continue to work. I hope that's what we see.

One game at a time is smart. How many times have we seen this before. Team beats a mediocre team and we get all hyped up to go play a division rival and get rolled. If, and it is a big if, they can beat the Giants on the road and in prime time I might start to think this season has some hope. The Giants will be desperate - I remember last time they were 0-2 and the Skins played them. They smoked us and went on a roll and won the Super Bowl.

Either way, nice to see people feeling good about the team for a change.

All I really wanted going into this season was to see the team have a chance, go out and be competitive every game. Look like a professional football team. Make it worth our time to watch on Sunday.

Hoping they'll keep it up.

Love this one from MMQB this morning:

The five things we never saw coming

1. The NFC East is going to be one bizarre division this year. If you took a poll of fans of a certain knowledge before the season, my guess is that Washington would have been ranked fourth of the four teams in the division. This morning, with the crippling injuries to Dallas (and I think the Cowboys overcome them, because of their good defense and because Tony Romo and Dez Bryant should return for the final five or six weeks), Washington might be first. The narrative in D.C. has changed. It was: What in the world are they doing with RG3? Now it is: Who can stop their running game? Jay Gruden’s team is playing good defense, and without question has the best ground game in the division, a job-share between Alfred Morris and Matt Jones. A week after incumbent Morris had 25 rushes to rookie third-rounder Jones’s six, Gruden called Jones’s number 19 times and Morris’ 18 in the decisive win over the Rams. Jones had a workmanlike 123 rushing yards. After two weeks Jones and Morris have combined to run for 331 yards. “There will be some games where it may not happen like that,” Gruden said on Sunday. “Our plan is to keep both of them fresh. I don’t really care who is in there. In pro football, I think that is the blueprint for most successful teams. We have a young quarterback. We don’t want to throw it 50 times.” It’s working so far. Kirk Cousins is a 76% passer after two weeks.

Its September the month everyone loves to over react. The Eagles are better than you think, as are the Giants and the Cowboys are much improved on D and get Hardy back…with their OLine they can survive the injuries. Talk to me in December!! That said, the one thing that impressed me yesterday was...up by 7 we had the ball in the Red Zone and my thought was watch Gruden run three straight running plays and kick a FG. I wanted to pass on second down, but just like I thought they run 3 straight running plays, get a first down then Jones scores…ballgame. That was quite impressive!

Absolutely right. One thing that happens though every September is that a couple teams people had big expectations for get exposed as frauds. This year maybe the Ravens? Saints? Eagles? Maybe the Dolphins? Guess we'll see, but you're right its crazy to overreact to September.

Pukes are going to be interesting. I agree with your points, but losing Dez AND Romo? That's a huge combined loss to overcome.

And I am definitely not counting the Giants out, but DAMN. It would be a huge blow to beat them Thursday and send them to 0-3. I can't even bring myself to hope for that.

While a win in NJ will be very sweet, the team with the most at risk is the Giants. They MUST win, IMO, to salvage this season. They will self-destruct if they suffer a third loss, especially at the hands of the Redskins. They will be desperate to avoid that.

As long as our Redskins play well, we are still on course. Win or lose. 'Course, I want to see Mara humiliated... But a win would be very sweet.

Agreed!! Skins have their work cut out for them...trying to match the urgency and intensity of a team facing a 0-3 start it going to be tough!!

Not a chance, bruh.

With nearly 2 decades of more losses than wins, I couldn't get bored of watching the B&G win, and win, and win some more.

Happy Monday, fellas!

We have a total of eight wins since the beginning of 2013. We could win three Super Bowls this year  and I'd never get sick of winning.

Reading some of Coughlin's comments today. Sounds like he's glad he has the Redskins on schedule this week. Would be sooooo great to ruin it for him and usher in his retirement.

I'm not sure people are listening to their own advice here......

Yes, 1 game at a time. People are talking about getting sick of winning..... :thump:

In reality, STL didn't play that well, Foles was horrible, and they made a TON of mistakes. They were a much different team than the one that played against SEA. We've played both games at home and only averaged 17 ppg. Cousins is still inconsistent. There are things that need to improve in order to get to where we can honestly consider ourselves an NFC East champion contender.

In order to take one game at a time, we need to not have a false sense of what this team is and work towards improvement. Let's see how we do in a divisonal game away before we start talking about how we can take the division.
RIP Sean Taylor. You will be missed.

I'm certainly not going to proclaim us as the NFC East winners yet, but after yesterday it's hard to ignore the fact that the division is now wide open, and it certainly doesn't look like we're going to be cellar dwellers again.

I wonder if he'll still feel that way after Eli gets beaten to a bloody pulp. I think all that has to happen to win the game is to double Beckham and to knock Eli on his ass every play. When he gets hit a few times he coughs up more turnovers than Entenmann's bakery.
